Hey guys long time no see, lately I've been hiking a lot in wolf country (pack of 6 confirmed) are they a real threat or do they scatter when coming across humans? According to google it should be fine.
>>2854743They can absolutely be dangerous but shouldn't be a problemjust remember it's the wolf you don't see that gets you
>>2854744>just remember it's the wolf you don't see that gets youWait do wolves track you like a mountain lion would do? Dafuq, didn't know they were ambush predators.
>>2854750No one of them will show itself and while youre looking at it, another one will nail you from the side or behindIts classic wolf tactics Really you dont need to worry though
>>2854751That's pretty spooky, I'll need to read more on that. In the footage of the wolf pack I saw they were maybe husky sized, 6 of them will fuck me up.Are there any signs I should take notice of to see if they are currently in the area? Did 4 miles today and when snow started to blind me I felt pretty unprepared in case I came across such wolf pack. At the same time I really would love to see them.
>>2854753I would also love to see wolves in the wildLocal zoo has some but its not the same Basically use the same precautions you would for a black bear And dont runThey love when prey runs
>>2854743>I've been hiking a lot in wolf countryWhere?>are they a real threatNot uness rabid or starving.>pic relthose are not wolf tracks

>>2854743Wolves are pretty good about sharing the wilderness, as long as you aren’t threatening denning females or they aren’t starving. I will warn you that if you’re in an area with year round bear baiting (basically only Wisconsin), that you may run into habituated wolves that never really learned to hunt and that will ghost track you waiting for you to leave food, and this can be dangerous depending on how desperate they are, but god forbid the losers who run dogs have to learn to find bears without baiting.
>>2854918>those are not wolf tracksI didn't say they were, it's just some tracks I found yesterday.>>2854920 #Gotcha. As far as I have read there are no confirmed wolf attacks in this region so I should be more than fine. It's essentially a threat to livestock, shepherds have told to watch my back when hiking alone though.
>>2854753>Are there any signs I should take notice of to see if they are currently in the area?Tracks and pee markers- they tend to pee in the same spots. easy to see if there is snow
