Could you survive in the Australian outback with only your knife, a cast iron frypan, a soup pot, your hard-driving 4x4, 150liters of fuel, 70 liters of water, a shovel, a winch, a bedroll, and a saw??

you don't need a winch for 90% of the 4wding in the outback, it's flat and sandy most of the time. And if you're in a dire survival situation then you're going to be working damned hard to make sure you're never in a situation where you will need a winch, especially if alone.

Spoken like someone who has never actually driven in the outback, sand can get you bogged and literally half the country turns into a mud pit during wet season.

you never need a winch, the whole purpose of 4x4'ing, lift, lockers, tires etc is to never need the winch. and most of the time we dont need it, because we are kitted out well enough. but in the rare times you do get stuck so bad you need it and then its a life saver. you should be driving atleast two in such settings and pulling each other out is better than winching. i got a warn 8000 with brackets ready to put in my jeep, but i dont feel the need for lt? i yank out cars from the ditch regulary with said jeep, my daily driver land rover or my awd transit. i never really need a winch to save my own ass.

Been bogged in sand more times than you've had hot suppers, never needed a winch and most times didn't even need a tow, just a shovel and 2 max tracks. Rear locker does most of the work.

Have been on many a 4wd trip in groups, most people had winches and never used them. A tow from the person in front is much quicker and easier, winch seems to be an absolute last resort if it all turns to absolute shit.

Just say desert. The outback is a desert. I prefer to stay in the mountains.

I can survive anywhere as long as I have a rifle and good water and food. Everything else is a luxury.

>as I have a rifle
So, no?
>>

>150 liters of fuel
Not enough.

Antarctica. You only have a rifle, water, and food. You have no clothes or shelter.
What do?
>>
>>2856044
exactly. but im a friensless looser who does all my offroading alone. sand beaches is one of the things i try to avoid since sand is one of the worst and most unpredicable terrains to drive on. not that there are many sand beaches in norway, but they do exist... snow is actually easier, it behaves in a predictable way.

Are there any offroading/4wd clubs you can join? And I don't mean facebook groups.

I joined a local club and while it may be 90% boomers it still allows me to drive my car in places I wouldn't dream of doing alone.
>>
>>2856117
was member of one it was how i got into it. they where mostly into trial and racing and not so much touring and overlanding.

I couldn't survive anything. I'm just built different.
