I recently got my bachelor's in history from my local university, honestly even though I'm qualified for office jobs and stuff, I'd rather have a farm in Tennessee and grow weed and shrooms and opium and DMT (if the climate of Tennessee allows to grow DMT containing compounds), and raise chicken and sell eggs and sell fruits and vegetables, and power my farm home with renewable energy like solar panels.
>>2856876Seems like you spent your parents money on a worthless major. Luckily the farm bureau doesn't give a shit and will give you a farm loan anyway. See if your alma matter will let you take an ag class on how to get farmer gibs. Or just watch YouTube videos.
>>2856876i know about 20 people who had your plan>sell eggseggs are basically worthless everyone already has chickens>sell fruitit takes a decade for your trees to produce enough to sell>solar panelseveryone i know with solar hatea it, never enough electricity, always running a generator and the panels and batteries last 5yrs if you are lucky all in all, unless you were raised on a farm you are ngmi so you should just save your money. ive seen people waste hundreds of thousands larping as a farmer before the give up because isnt just like their heckin favorite youtube videos
>>2856881The only way you can fail to be a farmer is if you are trying to be self sufficient. Every successful farmer in America is a welfare queen.
>>2856876>>2856881You want a reasonably simple and lucrative cash crop like cut flowers.Subsistence farming to grow 100% of your food is a trap for morons. Farming in general is brutal, 7 days a week of 12-16 hour manual labor days with no sick days and no vacations. You might think you're hard enough, but most people aren't.
>>2856876Just get a comfy /out/ interp job at a park or battlefield in tennessee talking to kids about history
>>2856938The way to make money in his case is to market to nashville yuppies. Grow heirloom vegetables and microgreens ie shit like broccoli sprouts, basically vegetables completely unavailable in grocery stores even whole foods. People make a decent living selling to rich women like this. You could also rent land to deer hunters in fall etc. Also the amish in PA breed dogs for money. Find out the underserviced breeds and breed dogs in a steel barn and sell puppies for $500-1000 a pop.
>>2856876allright, you need some proper cashcrops and you can make it work. dont know about your weed market, but chances are its pretty saturated. hard to make enough for a living or even sell your harvest at all. dont do opium and large scale shrooms if those are still illegal there. not worth the risk. if they bust you, youll probably lose everything. DMT should be fine if you dont sell to idiots. phalaris aquatica/arundacea is a winterhardy grass that produces good quantities. you NEED a vegetative clone of a variety selected for potency. then its basically limitless spice. theres also varieties that produce 5meo.with shrooms, just go for stuff like shitake, lions mane, oysters, maitake, reishi etc. good prices and gets going fast. get the largest all amerian pressure cooker you can find and make tons of spawn. inoculate logs and bags. this alone can finance you.you can grow real wasabi in a polytunnel. needs shadecloth in summer and protection from hard frost in winter. does NOT need running water. just very well draining and high humidity. you can grow truffels now. theres nurseries selling trees that have been inoculated with truffel mycelium you plant those and take care of it and the mushroom grows with the tree. ot takes 7-10 years for the first truffels to form, but at that point the work is basically only harvest and sale. this can be a comfy retirement if you plant enough. grow veggies, fruit, chickens, fish and whatever other animals you like for your own food. buy stuff like flour, oil, rice, sugar etc.
>>2856933Some ancient wisdom. The farmer NEVER says they're doing fine. Because they will get more taxes over it. Every farmer larps as a poor salt of the earth. The reality is they're millionaires pretending to be broke.
>>2857117This.Pic related is Romanesco Broccoli. This is not photoshop or AI.Its real brocolli.
>>2858064It really do be do like that.

"Marijuana is categorized as a Schedule VI controlled substance in Tennessee, meaning it has a low potential for abuse and dependency. However, both medicinal and recreational consumption and use of marijuana are illegal in Tennessee.""Growing fewer than 10 plants is a Class E felony, whereas growing 10 to 19 cannabis plants is a Class D felony. Cultivating between 20 and 99 plants is a Class C felony, and cultivating between 100 and 499 plants is a Class B felony. Lastly, cultivating over 500 plants is a Class A offense."https://www.criminaldefenseattorneyfranklintn.com/marijuana-laws-tennessee/I'm going to guess if weed is illegal, then so are 'shrooms.
>>2858181If weed isn't legal, then it's a pain to grow. You need to grow it indoors, which means hydroponics and lights and a lot of electricity. I had a friend who pulled it off in QC before it became legal and told me some stories. First, he had to take out a lone with the HA to buy the equipment and get everything set up. Then he had to steal the electricity because the power company was cracking down on grow ops. He also had a bunch of hair raising stories about selling the weed. You don't want all the local kids heading to your farm to grab a oz or 2 and the people who'll buy a kg of weed tend to be massive unreliable assholes and own to many guns.
>>2858182Well that's ok because he also plans to produce and distribute opium
>>2858183Poppies are actually legal to grow.
>>2858183Ain't nobody doing resell scale production of opium in NA.
>>2856876>History degreeSorry to hear that man. I chose Poli. Sci. Should’ve had STEM autism instead of social studies
>>2858225what would you say if a stem autist ends up running a farm
>>2859149Just as long as you personally automate things by building shit and adding microcontrollers like thomas massie does
>>2859162nah already burned out by that shit i want treadles, line shafts and compressed air based energy storage
>>2859170fuck i'm thinking of a shop not a farm lol
>>2859162IoT is a blight on humanity
>>2856876Faggot like you are not wanted or appreciated in Tennessee, and we have a very large and noticable growing resentment towards out of staters coming here and shitting it up, because there has been massive influx of your faggots in the last decade coming from the West Coast and Northeast Anyways, all your ideas are retarded and clueless. If you want to make enough money in the sustainable farm world to feed yourself (and not much else) you are better off looking into selling organic grass fed cattle and chickens and raw milk. Eggs fruits and vegetables will get you nothing here
My maladaptive daydream is to move to Florida and start a reptile farm. Turtles and tortoises would be the main focus because they are easy to contain and feed, but I would try breeding chameleons and smaller monitors too.
