>>2857337why are you so ass blasted about my cabin? im probably going to work on it today and will post an update.
>>2857337good to see you are still making progress, keep posting anon
What's up, cabin Anon? Looks great so far. Did you decide on what to do with the floor, yet?
I see where you got the inspiration from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhM386S7wO4
>>2857358just put dirt from in front of the door inside for right now.>>2857361im just going to have a simple slanted roof with no peak
Post your axe wound again tranny.
>>2857366Came here to post this.
>>2857337Why do you have massive gaps between your logs? Why are your logs so thin? Are you hoping you'll freeze to death? Why are you putting in a window if you have gaps in your walls?
>>2857363>dirt floorNot gonna make it lad. That thing is going to be miserable to be in, if not fall apart.>>2857372Log size doesn't matter gaps don't matter.(you fill them in with waddle or daub.)The biggest offender is the floor. The very FOUNDATION of the cabin. OP decides "na fuckit, im gonna do dirt lol."Dumbest move, man. Gotta use planks or at least fill in some paver stones if you wanna be lazy.
>>2857375How about woodchips?
>>2857366>>2857369it healed up great.
>>2857376its got like a foot of bark on the floor right now. probably going to leave it
>>2857375Me again OP. I will at least give you props. You're doin' more /out/ than any of the bozos here. But you HAVE to put in a floor. This is irking me. U makin' me mad, broski.>>2857376No. He's going to not only have terrible insulation, but leakage from rain and ground soil. The inside of the cabin will most likely rot from the bottom up, and will always be moist. No to mention having next to no floor makes it super easy for pests to get in, like nasty bugs, mice or rats, and a breeding ground for bacteria or fungi. (Especially if he does woodchips, which will get moist and damp.)
>>2857376>>2857381>fucking woodchips and BARK for a floor.dude what the fuck are your doing do u not know how to build a cabin or wat?
>>2857381>bark>just going to leave it.Jesus Christ man. You spend all that time making a cabin. Then you phone it in at the final stretch?Do better.
>>2857363That thing is going to cave in on your head. You need to put a proper foundation in.
>>2857345>>2857346>>2857348I see the jannies are putting in overtime, doing nothing.
>>2857384>phone it in at the final stretchit started way before the final stretch
>>2857392Fucker will bitch and complain to us and /diy/ when his crack shack falls over.
Are you gonna show us an update today anon?
>>2857337thats really cool mr. op a real live gooner cave.
>>2857380That looks like absolute dog shit dude.
>>2857402only 3 more rows of logs left
>>2857408Love how you ignore criticism and only reply to people asking about your meth den. Fag.
>>2857408Looking good bro. At this rate you should be done in no more than a week
>>2857408Looking good anon, keep it up. Don't listen to all the jealous faggots who try to demoralise you. Keep doing your thing.
>>2857375>dirt floor>Not gonna make it lad. That thing is going to be miserable to be in, if not fall apart. You can make a dirt floor into something pretty nice with a few coatings of linseed oil.Obviously pic rel needs more than just piling some dirt inside a cabin though.
>>2857428your pic related probably has proper foundations, a vapour barrier, gravel fill, insulation, a thick base layer of good cob mix and 2 or 3 thinner top layers, then a ton of smoothing and polishing. yeah, dirt floor can be nice, if you know how to build
Some people wanna start a build with the roof. Some people start a build with the floor.OP being a special kind of retard, started with the walls.
>>2857409I absolutely like this about OP. He’s doing his own thing and probably laughing his ass off about how some of you autistic retards are getting your jimmies absolutely rustled.>>2857408Thanks for sharing OP.
>>2857337Maybe do this for the floor op :Add gravel/small rocks for insolation (lot of air between rocks)Top it with some planks. Added benefit is the rocks won't hold water
>>2857455>rocks for insulationMy brother it's called moss
>>2857474What the fuck are these people on to think you can put gravel in netween the stacked logs of a cabin? Extreme retardation.
>>2857455Debark the logs for fuck's sake!
>>2857439No vapour barrier or insulation but, yeah, a fair amount of work. >You need to add about 25% of finely screened clay to 75% sharp sand or crusher fines, with enough water to make something the consistency of a thick cake batter. Once this is thoroughly mixed, then several handfuls of chopped straw (several inches long) can be mixed in to help bind the material together.>This wet mixture is poured over a prepared base of thoroughly tamped road base (gravel and sand). The layer of adobe can be as thin as about ¾ inch, but usually it is more like about 2 inches. The first stage of pouring an adobe floor is similar to pouring concrete, where the wet material is roughly screed to get it uniformly level. With concrete, however, you must do all of the finish work within a few hours, before it sets up. With adobe the curing and finishing process can go on for weeks, or even months.>Once the initial pour has been leveled and troweled to get it roughly smooth, and it firms up enough to carefully put weight on it, the process of reworking the adobe with a steel trowel to press it further can begin. Pressing an adobe floor is very hard back- and wrist-breaking work. It must be done on the knees, with a lot of force and a specific technique to get the desired result.>Once everyone is satisfied with the degree of finish, and the floor has completely dried, it can be sealed with several coats of oil and other finishes. Usually the first coat is pure boiled linseed oil that has been heated to allow it to penetrate further into the adobe. Successive coats of linseed oil thinned with odorless mineral spirits are then applied until saturation is achieved. A final finish coat of hardening oil (such as fruit, nut and tung oil) can polish it off. High traffic areas might receive a final coat of hard oil wax to further protect the floor.
>>2857486he said for the floor you fucking retard
>>2857499im using 2 parts clay, 1 part wood ash, 0.5 parts sand for the chinking.
>>2857502Add some hay to minimize cracking/fallout.I forget how much but a small amount goes a long way.
>>2857452He's a retard, and you're a retard for encouraging him.
>>2857596Okee dokee. I don’t care what you think and you’re seething over someone doing something on the internet. Have a great day sunshine!
>>2857337There's a reason why they do this....
>>2857337Am I the only one who thinks you should have cleared all that crap out of your "floor" first? Also it looks like it's on a slope. Shouldn't you have some kind of foundation? It looks like the back end is just gonna fall out. What will happen when it rains?
>>2857605>Am I the only one who thinks you should have cleared all that crap out of your "floor" first? i did, its sitting on about a foot of rocks, its barks thats on the floor from debarking the logs, thinking of using it for mulch.>Also it looks like it's on a slope. you have a real eye for the obvious>Shouldn't you have some kind of foundation? its on rocks, a concrete foundation would raise my property taxesIt looks like the back end is just gonna fall out.its fine, once i get the roof on i am going to add more rocks around the outside>What will happen when it rainsit will run off my roof on the downhill side, will divert any water coming down the hill towards the cabinthe window is done, only one more row of logs on the backside
>>2857613The mice and rats are gonna love it!
>>2857613Trips and you burn it when finished as a sort of samsara jeet ritual
>>2857604go on..
>>2857616When they finished filming the original Evil Dead they burned down the cabin.
>>2857337You still build forts in high school?
>>2857613OP, can you please entertain answering my question about this scenario:>up late at night drankin sweet moonshine by the campfire>tired as fuck so stumble my way towards my loggy caberino >trip over a rock poked out of the ground near the door>slam my entire 175lb body against the logs that frame the edge of the doorwayW-what's to keep the entire thing from collapsing if the logs either side of your doorway get a hard jolt? Aside from the fact that your door is an opening that faces uphill towards water ingress, that's my biggest question for the design. That being said, I highly enjoy your thread and hope you continue to post.
>>2857640i nailed it together with big 6" ring shank nails, 7lbs of them so far. it is very sturdy, you could hit it with a car and it would barely move. i am putting a couple rows of full logs over the door opening and wil frame in the door with regular 2x4's which will tie it together. plus the rafters for the roof will help hold it plumb. >>2857638there is a very good chance i was building houses before you were born
