>OH MY GOD ANON YOU HIKE UP MOUNTAINS? I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO THAT! CAN I COME WITH YOU
>sure you got the gear
>WAIT I HAVE TO SPEND MONEY TO NOT DIE IN BELOW FREEZING TEMPS?!?!

Every time. It's hard finding people are actually passionate about things and are willing to invest money into the equipment to do said things. Normgrels nowadays want to go hiking on their nike sneakers and pijamas.

I brought a normie friend hiking with me last week, he's a pretty active gymbro but the type of conditioning hiking requires is completely different. We handled the temperatures and whiteout conditions fine he had to take a lot of breaks and had a little issue with a leg cramp near the summit.
I did have enough loaner gear and hand-me-downs to supply him with a mid layer, a jacket, mittens and traction though. It can be hard to communicate to people how much water, electrolytes and calories they really need, and how critical it is not to overdress in the winter.

It's so sad that zoomers can't be friends without constantly thinking of having sex with eachother

You put your arms around him, that's so cute omg.

I climb mountains solo just fine but I wish I had a bro like you. You seem like a great friend. In lieu of that I try to treat strangers on the trail with this level of kindness (without overstepping boundaries of course).

You're right, we should have celebrated with a firm (gloved) handshake and eye contact before heading back down in complete silence.

Being friendly to people on trail is pretty easy, the way I see it everybody out there is experiencing the highlight of their week and usually in a great mood. I'm always happy when people ask about the trail conditions and such, but there have been times where I'm on my way down and I see people like >>2858279 still going up at 2 or 3 in the afternoon. I'm not their mothers or some forest jannie, I can't tell them to turn around but I have told people respectfully that there isn't enough daylight left to do what they're trying to do or that they'd need snowshoes and spikes to go much further.

What mountain was this?

More frustrating than OP bitching about poor friends are getting friends that want to do this stuff with you, you tell them how they should train for it and get “I’m in good shape bro I work out” because they do a bro split 3x a week and are in a beer softball league. Then when you’re out on the mountain they get wrecked and kill any summit chance you had

Have had this happen with 3 different friends now who all “work out” and think that supplements that training needed for serious hiking / climbing. Unless you do endurance training (triathlons/cycling/marathons) or are a rucking queerbait then I don’t want to hear it you’re going to get out there and get your ass kicked

Moosilauke via Gorge Brook Trail. By any count an easy walk-up. I think its a great one to bring new hikers though because you still get above treeline and the views are great.

Nigga don't tell me what to do, YOU'RE NOT MY MOTHER, FATHER, OR GOD! I'm NOT sharing my $500+ arcteryx shells, or $100+ base layers with anyone.

>gymbro

Nothing against gymbros, but yes there is a huge difference between gyming and actual /out/ robustbess. I have seen people who are ripped /stacked who caved in on events & activities I took part in. They look the part, but can't perform due to lack of proper conditioning.
