Funny how indigenous Europeans have similar myths about tiny people, who dress in specific and unique ways, are fond of sweets, have intricate gift giving and protection rituals, are known for mischief, and typically have funny hats, do some sort of cobbler or farm work, and exist across disparate cultures separated by hundreds of miles, language barriers and time. My favorite small person is the tooth fairy. Just about every other custom and creature of European mythology has been co-opted or eliminated by mother church. But not the tooth fairy.
