I have about 20k and get neet bucks every month. I've been planning this for decades, I have my 'doctor' over the internet, and get my medications mailed to me anywhere in the world.

I'm looking at plots of lands out west, some of them are 20 acres for only 2-3k, some even have a fresh water river running through it.

I've also considered a truck + RV and just driving and living at campspots. That is also in consideration in the life I'd want to live.

I've been researching for quite awhile and picking up tidbits of crucial information, like how much propery taxes are, does the land flood, is it on a slope, is it accessible etc. etc.

Some of these plots even have gravel roads and utilities run to the property line, ready for setup.

This all seems so easy that my mind is saying that there's some gotcha that I haven't considered.

So what gives /out/, why shouldn't I just buy a small plot of land with fresh river water and park a trailer or build a small cabin and live there.

>regulations
>fees
>licenses
whatever, what happens if I ignore them?

I'd like to get a well installed, a septic tank, starlink for internet and solar/generators for electricity.

It always makes me laugh that the laziest neets who can’t even hold down a shitty part time job at Walmart think they are going to play mountain man.

If you go into DA HOOD none of them have jobs, they all sit around all day doing nothing and are extremely lazy, but they're fine paying city rent on gibs.
>>2865345
>This all seems so easy
Depends on if you're in an area that has water and tornadoes, most population zones aren't anywhere near there so nobody wants to fly 2,000 miles away from their family to live an isolated hermit life.
If you want to yeah, it's extremely cheap and easy, it's just that the vast majority of humans never want to do anything like that so land that's 2,000 miles way from anything is extremely cheap.
We have this to a lesser amount in New York's southern tier, where if you drive merely 2 hours property becomes affordable, it's just that nobody wants to move somewhere with no jobs or people or entertainment.
>But how could it be so cheap?
Supply and demand, basically like how they pay you to live in Alaska.

if you have been "playing it" for decades and only got 20k you aint ready. i didnt really plan for it but knew i could not live as a wageslave in the city but manage for some years, enough to both build up enough work credit and finances. sold my housing and started on my own by being on zero with a solid house, a van and all tools. i can now do jobs here and there, maybe a week at an hotel (im obviously not doing that unless its fully paid including breakfast and dinner) and my business is paid down, car, house, garage, tools.... and i live debt free in a house in an area where you can fish the fish you eat for free and even hunt some as long as you dont get caught (no one will tell if you kill a sami owned reindeer) just do it at caution. but it still pays off to do a few week commutes now and then or try to find a local gig.

you're making assumptions. I worked in manufacturing, roofing and other shitty jobs for 15+ years,

I don't know why you used the words schizo/hobo, as I am a diagnosed schizo and was homeless the last 4-5 years. But thank you.

>>2865387
So nobody wants good land because nobody else is around? Who the fuck cares lmao. I ain't got any family and my friends are all online.

>>2865398
Decades was a mistake on my part, I've been planning it for the past 5~ years or so, maybe longer. Always knew I'd be on disability as I knew something was fucked in my brain, but I just toughed it out, way longer then I should've.

Otherwise, sounds like you made it bro.

So basically, I'm looking at water rights, homesteading laws for the plot, something called a perc test to see if I can install a septic tank.

The plots with water, I'm assuming the well depth wouldn't have to be that deep. I'd guess I have to consider flooding also.

What's the animal laws called? I'd eventually like to have a few animals.

just your writing style and thought process reminds me of a lot of my fellow hobos who happened to have a little to much to think

>So nobody wants good land because nobody else is around?
Yeah, distance from people means services might not be available, you have to go further for groceries and shopping and entertainment, there are no jobs, ect.
So you're left with the only people interested in said land being hermits or businessmen who can make profit from said land, and the people who can make profit probably could find land closer to people so they could make more profit.

makes sense, but I think people are sleeping on this, there's a lot of potential with this type of setup in my eyes

how do i get this?

whats your disability? if its one that physicly hinders you from working well obviously you cant homestead. if its a mental one where you can work under certain conditions, yeah it might work, but you will be better off if you can find something to do locally a day or two a week in exchange for money. work for money and then buying groceries for it always wins over working for growing or making it yourself. but you can and should do both obviously.
im actually quite mentally challenged yet got years of experience in my field and regulary get job offers in leading or project manager positions. im waay too sperg and social anxhiety to ever do that but i like doing my job as long as i know i can do it at my own pace, and when i get into a teamwork project well i dont like it but if it require some leadership i will reluctantly take that role simply because my experience tells me too (or else it goes sideways and i cant have that) and i get respected when i do. bosses hate me, because i dont do as they say, customers love me, because i do whats required to give the desired end product, coworkers both lol and respect me because i am what i am, autistic and sperg but im skilled, fair and take responsibility. thing is it takes such a hard toll on me i cant do it as a full time job, i would hang in a tree or suck on a 12g if i did. today i get a call now and then
>can you do xxx job in inbreedfjord? solo? 4 weeks?
>can you step in as working project manager in majorproject, bigcity? 2-4 weeks?
>can you asap drive 4h to fix something?
and i say yes, always.
an option i have been thinking off since i moved to hickville valley is to ask local farmers, sawmills, workshops and such if they need and extra retard to help them out in stressfull periods? this is a route you could take? specially farmers will almost always accept help if you dont charge too much, some might even offer to pay you in the same products you want to grow at home, just more per hour of labour.

>out west
terrible idea, lots of rules for zoning/permits/inspections. if you ignore them they will fine the fuck out of you and maybe let you bring it up to code or they could just order it demolished.
>camper/rv
be careful, those cheap lots have restrictions on living in you rv on it.
>well/river
you dont even have enough to drill a well out west, permit can be thousands of dollars and you are usually restricted from getting water from the river because you only own the land, not the water.

what you are describing is an ozarks/appalachia type thing. but lots and lots of counties there are changing the rules to prohibit what you describe.

Here's where I'm at anon. 45M, hated my fucking job, hated all of the bullshit. I learned how to play poker along the way. I'm worth about 50/hr in my game. I saved money for a few years, built a 50k bankroll and also cached money in retirement. Now this part will be lol, but I have about 100k there now. Point being, I had a little more safety net.
Depending on age, you may not need it. If you're young enough to try it, fail, recover, fuck it. You only get once my man. Ive failed twice to this point. Picked myself up eventually, now about 4 months into it this time and starting to spread my wings

Reddit spacing the important part. I could never have the plans and life I have today in this moment without taking the leap. People will tell you you're a loser, you're stupid. Fuck em. Its your life and you answer to YOU, not them. Happy for questions. God luck and good speed anon!
