>2nd day in a row where my dog gets 3 of these fuckers just by running in the yard for a few minutes
Wtf am I supposed to do? It's those little tiny sesame seed ones. They've never been this bad in my yard before

Blame the industrialists for making the planet fit for ticks rather than people.

My cats bring them home every day. They drop off of them when they come inside and the crawl around on the floor.

i literally went to clean my bbq and found a bastard crawling on my leg. there was no grass in sight.
ive never found one latched on tho
>>
>>2866638
Get a huge 'ol bag of diatomaceous earth. (ground up seashells.) The food grade kind for you and your pets would be best.
Get a puffer tool. Spread that shit ALL over your yard. That stuff cuts up their exoskeletons and dries them out, killing them. Also Guinea Fowl eat ticks. Buy some if you can spare some time caring for some birds.

Just get your yard treated it is 1000% worth it and you already have cancer and your dog probably does too so might as well be tick free (can’t be cancer free)
>>
>>2866638
Get rid of the dog. It will bring them in your home and then they will bite you.
Dogs transmit these fuckers who can kill you in the most debilitating slow way possible.
>>
I found two ticks on my ass after crawling in the weeds looking for morels.
i was wearing full pants, boxers and a tucked in shirt.
no idea how those fuckers got on me.
>>
I caught lyme last year despite always thoroughly checking myself after being /out/ and the symptoms' appearance made no sense time-wise with my most recent hike. only thing I can figure is I picked a tick up in the yard and never noticed it. pretty cool
>>

They're small enough to crawl into the slight gap between the shirt and the jeans. As for how they got on your ass through the boxers... Idfk. Get checked out though if you haven't already.

As for OP's question - rose geranium or cedarwood oil, applied to the dog's coat before you go outside. Should keep the ticks off the pup. Dilute it though. Safety and all. Or just apply it to the gear like a harness or something.
>>
ticks never bother me, maybe you have something wrong with your soul?

Termidor
Paint a small line down his back and let dry. Don't let him lick it.
Shit will drop dead off him, but dog will be okay.

This shit will kill cats, though

>Shit's a carcinogen
So is 95% of shit around you in modern life. Get over it you fucking nutjob. Your odds of getting cancer from it are so fucking low that it's absurd to be a retard and worry about it. You'd have to literally douses yourself in it every fucking day for hours on end and never bathe. Fucking 1st graders understand how half lifes and chemical absorption work better than this fucking shit site.
>>
Spray some tea tree oil on him or attract a posse of possums to eat dem ticks
>>

Some day I hope you get to have the experience of sitting in an exam room and hearing the doctor tell you you have cancer.

Will you be laughing then?
I wasnt.
>>
Just this week I found one on me for the first time in my life. I just noticed a little speck on my lower side area then scratched at it and pulled this guy off pretty easily without even knowing what it was. Weird thing is it was clearly already dead with the legs curled up, but I’d only went hiking 4 days before that and it doesn’t look like it ever got that big compared to the ones I’ve seen on animals. Less than half the length of my pinky nail

nothing to worry about unless you have a bullseye shaped wound or you are european
>>
>>2868192
lyme disease does not always show the signature bullseye rash. Sometimes it's just a blob and sometimes it doesn't show up at all.
>>
>>2868196
Lyme is also not the only thing to worry about, ticks have many gifts for us
>>
>>2868144
They fold up their legs when they're feeding to help keep a low profile and be harder to spot. Once they start swelling like that, they've been on you for a while. 4 days is crazy if it was actually dug in for that long.
If it was actually dead when you pulled it off, it could also be that you just pulled the body off and the head is still there. It's pretty common for that to happen once they get dug in well and especially if you're just pulling them off with your fingers and not a pair of tweezers or something.
>>
>>2868253
The head is clearly there in the picture. I have never ever seen anyone 'leave the head in'. Does not happen unless you're stupid enough to cut it off accidentally.
