What's the best film grainy emulation halation dreamy vintage type x mount lens? Just bought an XH2S and want to shoot kino. Preferably under $600 and I only really shoot like somewhere between 16-24mm or something. Thanks a lot
>>
Assuming this isn't bait, which I feel like it is:

The $15 Praktica lenses on eBay are just straight up the same fucking lenses Meyer Optik Görlitz is charging cinematards $900 today.
All the glow, halation, erratic bokeh, you name it, and always faster than f/2, just adapt that to your Fuji

You're supposed to bait the hook, OP.
>>
>>4477433
It's not bait. Do you know of something I can buy on Amazon? I want to buy something I can take back if I don't like it
>>
>>4477436
Lmao I'm 100% serious. Just recommend something please on amazon I'm about to buy it. I can return it if i don't like it.

I just read X Mount lens are not good for video which is the only thing I'm doing. So EF mount I guess? Which lenses for those have what I'm looking for
>>
>>4477438
>grain comes from the lens
>not b8
You're not even trying.
>>
>>4477443
>bought a foolji for video
Just more b8, if you wanted to sound believable you'd claim you bought a Panasonic or even an older Canon with Magic Lantern support.
>>
>>4477445
Do some lenses not have more noise than others? Please just recommend EF mount lenses that look film like please just name them I will show you my amazon recipt
>>
>>4477447
The Fuji XH2S has the best film look I've seen in any camera since the original BMPCC
>>
>>4477448
No, but stopping down causes noise if it makes you use higher ISOs. So does using ND filters. Sounds stupid to me though. Just shoot film instead, you'll be happier. Short ends are a thing.
>>

>I want to buy something I can take back if I don't like it

Motherfucker, East German lenses are like, $30 max, you own a fucking X-H2S and can't throw away twenty bucks without having to guarantee a way to get it back?
>>
>>4477452
He already threw away all the money on that dumb body, wait until he finds out about lighting and tripods.
>>
>>4477454
What's a better camera for under $3500 with high enough bitrate for me to color grade and has a good film look?
>>
>>4477458
>has a good film look
It’s hopeless for you.
>>
>>4477454
Truth be told the X-H2S could have been the greatest APS-C camera ever made
if it hadn't been
for
Y'know
The autofocus
>>
>>4477458
Literally anything is better than that can of worms, lol.
And if you're a penny pincher then full frame is the way to go, because you can use lenses from eons ago that you can buy for peanuts and still get access to wideish FoVs.
>>

You'll need to spend a few thousand more on a Dallmeyer lens, a few hundred more on an adapter (or about $1500 having one made by a machine shop if none exists), then another 3-4000 on lighting to do what you want, then hundreds of hours in post tweaking LUTs to suit your gear & your process. Plan on about a year & a half of thinking youve got it, only to look at your work 3 months later and throw it all out bc you've improved so much since then you can now recognize it was crap. Then go to resell all your shit and calculate the depreciation and how many good shots you've gotten out of that $ and realize how much each image has cost you.

Or, just buy a Nikon FA for about $300, grab a Nikkor Defocus Control lens, a few rolls of Ektachrome, and send it out for developing & hi res scanning. Don't waste your time & money on all this digital tech shit just to try to emulate film, just shoot film. Spend all your time & money composing excellent shots instead of staring at a screen dicking around with endless tech shit and getting "I wish I was shooting film" wannabe garbage.

I shoot video only sorry I forgot not everyone knows what kino means. Anyways I just bought the XH2S, Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 Nikon Mount, and a Tiffen Black 1/4 filter. The Sigma looks sterile and not film like at all but I just need something and it seems to be the best zoom lens. I'll try to do research later and then take the Sigma back when I find a good vintage look lens
>>
>Will do anything to make something look like film except shoot film
kek
>>
>>4477431
For my X-H2s, I mostly use
>Sigma 17-40 f1.8
>Sirui 40mm f1.8 1.33x AF
>Sirui 50 f1.8 1.33x, 24mm f2.8 1.33x
>mist filters + resolve plugins for me
>>
>>4477433
shut the fuck up nigga, I haven't bough the Pentacon 28mm yet! I don't want them to have the hipster tax!

Anon please
>>
>>4477506
Lenses do cause grain and other effects. You are just objectively wrong.

>need a high bitrate to color grade
Do you need high bitrate to color grade. Have you ever traded color grading shitty footage? It's impossible. It looks bad no matter what you do.
>I only shoot video so bought a foolji
XH2S is superior to Panasonic/Sony/BMPCC and any of other cameras in the price range.

>>4477497
Nikon mount is better than Canon mount
>>
>>4477822
>XH2S is superior to Panasonic/Sony/BMPCC and any of other cameras in the price range.

Mmh, I don't particularly agree, sure, it's way better than any Sony, but Panasonic has way better menus and the BMPCC shoots objectively better footage if you got like $2000 extra to rig it up.

No fault towards the X-H2S video though, it would be genuinely one of the best pro bodies you could buy if they actually fixed the autofocus. Shame.
>>

>Lenses do cause grain and other effects.
quadrupling down on the b8 huh
>>
>>4477878
Have you heard of vignetting, soft focus, noise, chromatic aberration?
>>
>>4477883
That's not grain. Have you heard of tabular and T?
