Three sciences about light that'll help you understand: The science of photons, electromagnetic radiation, and bosonsTwo technical concepts that'll help you understand how your camera works: How computers work, how chemistry works, and how the mechanics work in a camera. (Anon here like what the fuck computers? Yes anon your digital camera is a damn computer like a smartphone is a damn computer. Hell even in some cases a calculator can be a computer. And the next what the fuck statement is about film photography which is indeed chemistry.)Last thing is knowing how all the programming and placement of the camera functionality is in your camera. Such as knowing what the hell C4k is in a Panasonic GH5 for example. You do all this you would know your camera like a mechanic knows a car. Congratulations you are a step ahead in being a photographer or cinematographer. The most important part about all of this is the hardest part which is does it make sense to you like any other art form?
>>4477834Are mechanics really the best race car drivers?
>>4477836Bottom line is: A camera is a device that shoots an image because electrons exist in our universe.
>>4477837How do I make better art with that knowledge?
>>4477834You don't need to know that much, you need to know how to operate it and you need to RTFM so that you don't sell it looking for some functionality that was there all the time. And you need to learn how to expose properly if you're going to shoot in manual so that you don't use stupid settings like a fujislug and then complain the photos suck. Certain knowledge of the internals helps but most doesn't at all. Know the native (analog) ISOs and things like that if they matter for the particular camera, know what defaults you need to change in the custom settings, then set and forget.
>>4477839You understand concepts like why a camera that claims to be 15 stops of dynamic range turns out to be 10, finding out it was not the sensor that caused that but the limitations of the internal processor for example. You discover why the ugliness of your camera's digital noise exists, which is due to the lack of information from the pick up of light statically on your camera sensor; that static behavior is different from a chemical adjustment done on film for sensitivity, which is the difference between digital ISO and film ASA.
>>4477907But why would that help me make art better?
>>4477912Cleaner, clearer, unstressful images.
>>4477916How does edge to edge sharpness help me create art tho?
>>4477939Your art won't look like an overly underexposed blurry mess. Are you asking rhetorical questions to get a rise out of me?!
>>4477942No. Im wondering how bosons, electromagnetic radiation, and the science of photons will help my art. Cameras are pretty easy to use for the most part.
>>4477944All the greatest photographers had an intuitive understanding of bosons. I carry a cheat sheet with Feynman diagrams whenever I want to create art.
>>4477972But why tho? Im very familiar with color stretching and its ramifications on the artistic process, but I still do not see the connection bosons and the feynmann diagrams you speak of.
>>4477974The color stretching makes the knot hurt less. Snoy 101.
>>4477974You do not see because you are willfully blind. The power of seeing is what makes photography art and this is a power that cannot be taught.
>>4477836fpbp and absolutely REKT
>>4477974Trust me, having a fundamental understanding of light helps you better use it as a tool.
>>4478076Can you show me how the bosons have improved your art with an example?
>>4478077My art is still mediocore anon. But just to allow you to have your s*yjak humor, here is my imgur page: https://imgur.com/user/Zack194/posts
>>4478087Why is your imgur spelled zack? I know zacharys and they would NEVER EVER misspell their name like that, faggot.
>>4478087The problem is, Zach, that it would be a lot easier to take advice from you if you had photos worthy of envy.
>>4478092If you dig deep enough you'll find a few decent images
Bait thread. Fake zach.
>>4478097You're right I spoke too soon. The sultry yellows, the organic grain, the perfectly clipped highlights, the basically centred subject. I kneel.
>>4478100Not all of them are bad
Some fag found this guys imgur and is using it to bait and troll.
>>4478087>https://imgur.com/user/Zack194/postsMediocre but they have SOVL as only one who has studied the science of Bosons can portray.
