Is anyone else noticing a big drop in engagement on flickr over the last year or 2?
I know its dropped alot since its peak, but it feels like its significantly dropped again over the last year or so.

Probably just more of the everything fatigue. Photos, videos, games, music.. in short every type of entertainment is over-saturated. At least that is how I feel having been chronically online for longer than I like to admit. I am sure more people feel the same.
What are we supposed to do exactly? Look at the same type of "artistic" photos from thousands of "creatives" and be happy? See remakes of old movies and listen to remixes of old songs? Or perhaps play the new video game that is exactly like the same crap they made over a decade ago?
It also doesn't help that they have made the user experience consistently worse on all platforms. Search for something, get completely irrelevant results or be bombarded with algorithmic nonsense pushed to the top because they are corrupt assholes trying to influence us in a certain way, sell us a product or inorganically promote an "artist" whom they have decided is gonna be the next big thing.
It didn't have to be like this, but here we are.

I did wonder this and if the tik tok Insta reels thing is actually truely sucking away a big chunk of audience because it is indeed something brand new.
If Flickr is being hit that means even old boomers and getting onto short form video.
I just can’t see it but I’m not on those platforms, are boomers actually making and uploading tik toks now?

It's lack of original things and the fear of innovation now that the audience is captive, marketing has reigned over quality.

Are you really that disconnected to not know fags over 50 are into short format now? what's with mutts and their extreme disjointed groups? you are even separated in what you drink and eat, but to answer your question: Yeah, people over 50 are addicted to short format videos and overall use their phones equally if not more than people under 35, and also make content for it because platforms have simplistic editing tools and you don't need a lot of effort to make a 10 second reel of something mundane like a traffic jam.
Between 35 and late 40 something people act as a middle ground that can go any way, either they us their phones as much as either group or are luddites who will point out that you are using your phone even if you are just checking the hour.

Yep, my shots have gone to the front page about four or five times in the last year. Which leads me to believe there are fewer people on the platform.

They let it become a place for simply storing photographs rather than a place where people go to see them. The site has been almost entirely neglected for years, with no attempts made to refresh it or develop it.

>They let it become
It's by design, they started crippling more and more and charging for a lot of things that used to be free. I think they also demand signing in for more things now.

A former pro member between 2010 and 2021. I did notice it a long time ago. To me shorts contributed to all this downfall but also pricing model that is clearly ecouraging you to turn your flick into photo dump. Why the fuck they keep it like it and not introduce more plans like 5000 images up to 2k for 25-40 USD per year.

I used to search for some nice travel pics to get inspired like before my 2016 trip to vietnam. these days all i get is a total shit , photo dump of a thing like thousands of pics from some dumb sports events. somewhere ther in that pile you may notice some valuable content.

I keep getting thoughts to restore my pro but instead I downsize my photos to below 500 and I leave it like that. The only reason I dont delete my account altoghter is I have some really nice collections of faves from various people from the past.
