hi what do you guys think, i shoot only really abandoned locations, and i feel this is one of my best photos -- abandoned church in PA
additional img, lmk critique
>4485223You need an UWA lens senpai. OP pic feels so tight, I'm guessing shot at 35mm?OP pic doesn't have anything going for it really. There's nothing compositionally impressive, the subject is just a bunch of peeling paint.. It's not bad per se but it's like a low-tier Windows wallpaper that didn't make the cut. Score: EXC 5+++++ (has fungus, appearance is beautiful) / TOP MINT>4485224This pic is a bit better because it does an alright job of putting the viewer in your shoes. You get to see more of your surroundings and the scene overall is neat and somewhat interesting; someplace not many will get to see which you're letting us experience through your photo. That's a good use of a photo. It's also a decent composition with vertical thirds and the open gate. I personally would have tried to get closer to the piano and UWA it to make it stand amongst the scenery, but that's now a whole different photo.Score: Almost MINT / TOP MINT
>>4485225Thank you for the critique!! i am pretty like semi new, but have shot over 200 locations (only about 10 good sets total tho since i got a camera late and most photos are iphone shots) I use a cannon SX50 HS i got given by my grandparents who dont use it anymore. Now i have money im looking into getting a DSLR since i want to take photography seriously. BTW here are some extra photos from the set!! :D
>>4485225also, there are a lot of factors which go into having time to get shots, and setup tripod. some of these places alarms will randomly go off, or tweakers will start trying to do shit. so getting a shot can be difficult in this certain genre, because of these external factors. PS these r compressed becuz file size to large
>>4485224>>4485223That's an exceptional spot, very well foundI think you're already pretty good, those are some good compositionsAs someone who used to do a lot of urbex (and started his photography by being like you and pretty much only shooting that), I'll say you should try and see how your shots can look without doing HDR bracketing When I drifted away from urbex it was because I found I liked doing "simpler" shots more, and I wasn't losing any atmosphere or detail, since I'd actually exposed my scene how I intended it to look from the start (and you can really get a lot of details from shadows nowadays)Godspeed, Anon, be careful and don't get stabbed or fall down a well
>>4485248used to love that stuff though
>>4485250for fun, here's one from 2013

>>4485248Thanks for the reply!! My camera has a weird like color thing over it but shooting hdr makes them come out much more vibrant and with true color. i have a cool set of a abandoned hospital that Non HDR merged photos turned out pretty cool
>>4485223I really like the colors here. Did you get a clear one of the painting in the bottom right corner there? The one of the angels.
There is too much even lighting. Need more depth in that aspect. Besides that these are dope. Dont give away the location though, dont disrespect the hobby like that.
>>4485223Looks great. Even as a Christian theres always a great feel to abandoned churches. Keep it up
