In 2019, after the death of my father, I stumbled upon a former Amish farm in central New York. I spent about 4-5 years there taking pictures. It’s a time of my life marked by instability, illusions, great learning, joy and disappointment. I hope you all enjoy looking. Feel free to let me know what you see. Will take some time to upload everything, most coming from my instagram because my mac is still in USA and I haven’t rescanned all of my negs.
when i first arrived, it was by accident. i was hooking up with this guy (inb4 fag), and his roommates came home, so he brought me to the farm. we were instantly greeted by kyle, a former paramedic from SF living out his days at this farm after he got a bad diagnosis. kyle and this other guy had a things going on, but i was drawn to kyle and his unmatched levels of happiness, despite living on this janky farm.he also quickly redpilled me, and i became interested in learning more. mamiya rz67, rollei infrared.
soon after i had made a couple of lust filled visits to the farm to see both of them, i decided to stay the night. unknown to me, the other guy had stormed off suddenly, leaving kyle heartbroken and alone. i arrived and was shocked that kyle had written all over the house in walnut stain. i was slightly afraid for my life, but kyle was happy to see me, so i stayed the night and slept with one eye open that night. morning after, yashica t3. natura 1600.
in addition to being intelligent and funny, kyle was a somewhat talented pianist. his dream was to abandon everything and move to paraguay. there would he open a brothel and play the piano all day. you can’t see it here, but he’s got a fly on his back, sort of a memento mori motif in my opinion. rz67.
kyle also played the accordion, and spent lots of time playing it outside much to the neighbors’ chagrin. rz67, rollei IR.
when i first met kyle, he had a hypersexuality about him. i wasn’t 100% attracted to him, more so the initial guy who brought me there. but we developed a bond like brothers. eventually, he told me that due to his terminal kidney disease was why he was so eager. when you’re homosexual, you have no one to continue your lineage. no one to care for you when you’re sick. the site of eroticism is a site of destruction, but can it be anything else? this was sort of inspired by seance photos, with the flower becoming something akin to ectoplasm. rz67, ir. 24 second exposure lol.
kyle lived alone with (too) many animals. everything was done by hand, from feeding round bales to making new pastures. one day he was struck by a ram and got compartment syndrome from it, and was debilitated for a while, leaving me to do all of his work.

i think there’s three things you need to understand in order to make good images: light, lust and luck. ektar 100, rz. don’t recommend ektar for portraits
>>4485482Please never post again.Thank you.
>>4485498ok sorry i’ll go away now
>>4485500nta. despite the overly homoerrotic shots, the thread is fine. I feel it's a bit off an odd departure but the normal here is 7 gear threads of shitflinging and a high-engagement digishit thread.I don't really want to see man ass on /p/ constantly but it's really a nothingburger.
I enjoyed your story and pic OP
>>4485482Just skimmed through the thread and didn’t have time to read the texts yet. I will give more feedback later today but had to write to say I love your work! Great contribution! Homoerotic or not, it has a story and would make a great photobook OP.Do you have more? This kind of post is a rare gem in here

>>4485533i did use the rz a lot for close ups, but nothing involving portraiture. flies for instance became a motif for me when i was there. something a long the likes of yes, beauty exists, but here’s a reminder that all becomes dust one day, and the flies shall one day feast upon you sort of thing
8 second cow exposure. rz, rollei infrared

>>4485541You might be a fag anon. Not judging, but these photos are mid unless you're into the subject matter (man ass)
>>4485851living next door was the Dolder clan. Daniel and Dylan, two brothers, were frequent characters who’d appear. Daniel frequented more often, as he was 30 but had the mental capacity of a 16 year old. Everyone in the family had a name that began with a D. Daniel was forced to live in a closet and his parents siphoned off his government assistance. The family were hoarders, so I imagine he frequently visited to escape that, though he himself was a hoarder as well. He would come to have another child under a different (fatter) baby momma and lived at the farm after I left.
>>4485914Daniel would occasionally help us though, even if he was regarded he was still an extra pair of hands. mamiya 6, bergger pancro 400
>>4485914his brother, dylan, and his equally fat baby momma parasite
>>4485914daniel showing off his homemade tattoo, with his nickname «dickdirt» given to him by his father. don’t remember how he got that nickname. portra 800
>>4485914daniel on expired velvia. one thing i admired about daniel, if anything, was his punk hillbilly attitude towards his hair. he dyed it often, sported cool mohawks, and when we met him, had that long slick manson hair.
>>4485914last photo i’m going to share of daniel. rz67.
>>4485914when i got there, there was a big newfoundland named Cornwallis. He was fluffy and sweet, though also incredibly dirty and matted. Eventually we got another newfoundland from some Amish south of us. Her name was Duchess and I miss her. these rz67 photos were taken in succession, of her eating a bird she found or dug up.
>>4485921it’d hard taking photos of animals with an RZ, but it’s almost like she knew, and was sitting for a portrait.
>>4485921
>>4485923while i was there, she had 2 litters of puppies. her purpose, fulfilled.
>>4485914i learned a lot by being around so many animals.
>>4485914a jack o lantern, carved by chickens. i think photography is all about leaving things to chance. let your instincts guide you. follow the light, but if you find yourself in darkness, you must make your own light. rz67, rollei IR
>>4485914a guy named Danny. exmilitary, tried to lull himself because he was a fag. had two different colored eyes and thought he was a wolf. typical upstate NYer.
>>4485914some of the geese at night. ez+flash handheld is not fun, would not recommend.
>>4485914in central NYS is a large population of amish and mennonite people. took some photos at an auction one day when i first obtained the mamiya 6.
>>4485929one more, nothing special. the amish are very interesting people, even if they’re inbred. during the pandemic they fought the good fight, refusing to mask up because «they don’t have TV»
>>4485914finishing with a self portrait. around 2022, we began to slowly drift apart, as the anarchy of the farm slowly got to me more and more and kyle had to get work. i would still visit often, but was aware that there was more out there for me. around this time my lens and eyes were pointed towards exploring the decay of the surrounding area. family farms wrecked by opioids, decaying businesses all around with empty storefronts. a general malaise infected the valley. so i would cruise around in my car photographing these things instead of the farm.
>>4485484dare i say: kinonice thread
>4485488 >4485914 >4485568>4485484 >4485917 >4485922>4485486 >4485919 >4485928I think these in that formation tell a good story. The first one of Daniel is my favorite. I like how domestic it is, and the three figures suggest the three subjects and the three 'attitudes', and the fly tape is a good contrast to his smile. They only work in conjunction, save 14 which stands above. 84 and 86 are good aswell. The rest I don't care for. I can appreciate manback, but manbut is beneath me.>our system thinks your post is spam
Excessively gay, but still kino.
