>>4487994The image is not under or over exposed because the photographers intent was to produce that specific image, probably. It's about designing a light setup that produces the contrast you want. If you get the contrast you want then the image "makes" itself when you either print it or edit it in post.You would meter the background and the guys head to make sure the ev is the same, and you would meter the shirt to make sure it is correctly placed above middle gray. Everything else would fall in place after that.
