Been shooting photos forever and think it's time to buy a modernism digital camera. Currently own an original Sony 7 that's starting to show it's age. Looking for a small-ish, used, interchangeable lens camera to 'upgrade' to. I'll be using it as a general EDC walk around but also to shoot professional architecture photos. Must haves:>BSI sensor as a main reason for me to shoot digital is for low light performance >tilty screen that can flip down (NOT out to the side)>SS dial>Cost <$1500calThings I don't care about>AF performance>Video>Menus
>>4489729A fast lens is way more important than BSI
>>4489732Id rather be running around at night @ F8 and a fast shutter speed and high iso than @f1.4 and a fast shutter speed and lower iso
>>4489735>Id rather be running around at night @ F8 and a fast shutter speed and high isoBSI is not going to magically allow you to shoot at ISO 25600 without noise. If you want clean photos at night you either set up a tripod or get a lens with a wide aperture.Don't be a fag, a 50mm f/1.4 isn't that expensive and will allow you to handhold night shots.
>>4489738I'm not looking for no noise, I'm looking for usable. I had a Nikon zf but sold it because the ergonomics were terrible and the screen a silly vlogger flip to the side screen. I could run around with that thing all night at 12800iso+. Pic related
Also, I already own Leica m 1.4 lenses. I want to zone focus at night, that's why I don't want to just open up the aperture.
>>4489740Zf is best digital for M lenses lolToo bad you're too picky, you'll find a problem with any camera you get
>>4489743My want list is 3 points lol. How is that picky? The zf has worse ergonomics than a Leica m5 lol and there's nothing about it that makes it 'the best digital for m lenses'. It's the exact same adapting to my Sony as it was to the ZF
>>4489744Except Zf has better narrow aperture / extreme lowlight detection, subject / eye detection with any M lens, gives you focus trappingI love mine, but there's plenty of grip and case options tooZ5II / Z8 / Z6III are the only models with feature parity for adapted glassIt's picky because who gives AF about flip screen designWhy do you even need a dedicates SS dial
>>4489745Don't care about eye detection. I have been looking at the z5/6 series and am leaning that way for sure. I don't understand what features one needs for adapted glass? I zone focus and at worst would want focus peaking which any camera has these days.I care about flip screen design because I shoot it like a wlf. That's how I shoot 90% of the time when walking around with a digital camera. I want an SS dial because that's the main setting I change. Aperture pre-set, auto iso, and change the SS if needed. I could ditch the SS dial if that opens more opportunities. The flip screen is a deal breaker and I won't budge on that one though.
>the furry is shilling his zf againYawn.>>4489747Ignore that guy. The z5, z6ii, and z7ii are fine. If you dont need the zf/z5ii gimmicks, you don't. I would avoid the z6 and z7 1st gens because they can develop fixed pattern noise with exposure pushes like an old canon DSLR. The z5 doesn't have this issue. The zf really isnt as good as some people say. The vlogger screen sucks and everything on it feels really plasticky (especially the scratch prone baseplate made of the same scuffy plastic as canon eos ms and fujis new chinese made crap). Yes, even the dials. They're allegedly brass but the coating makes them feel like plastic and the play in the mechanism combined with the excessive number of non-toggleable lock points on the shutter dial makes using them feel like shit.It has better autofocus than prior nikons but worse autofocus than the cheapest canon or sony so who gives a shit?>I really want a shutter speed dialYou're not getting a nice shutter speed dial on any FF digitals that aren't leicas. Fuji's sales are predicated on this one feature and they half ass everything else. Also consider a used leica SL camera.
>>4489739Then I don't understand. You wan't better ergos then buy a blobmera or chuck a grip on the ZF (admittedly idk if the grips for the ZF are any good). An R6II would give you ergos, excellent low-light performance but it's not BSI. You could get an R3 with a BSI but why the fuck would you do that to yourself. You could also get a 5DII and a 50mm f/1.4 and have literally zero issues shooting at like ISO 1600 1/125th sec. Or go full moderntard and get the RF 45mm f/1.4 and an R6II for 5x the price and be able to hand-hold rediculously slow at base ISO or near it.idk mang, you're allowed to have preferences. I would just go about it a different way to you.
>>4489745Yeah the extremely fast performance of the ZF was what sold me on it. That thing is a whole different machine to shoot with than the Z5/6/7. All the blubbering I did about its shortcomings and annoyances don’t change the fact that its whipped the shag out of the half dozen superior (on paper) cameras, my Leica, our PhaseOne in the studio, & the big Sony, in terms of shooting experience & satisfaction with the images. I’ve owned or still own some of the nicest cameras, but no matter where I’m walking out the door to, that ZF gets picked up & taken with me every time. Also, on the size of the thing, I disliked how big the body is, but part of what makes the ZF the travelers pick is how flat it lays in a bags side pocket or a jacket pocket. If I have to run to NYC or Moab for a week and pack a single bag or bike pack it, the ZF can actually come along, otherwise, no camera.
