I'm looking for my first real camera. I had no idea where to start so I had a look at the image properties of my wedding pictures (which I though were pretty great) to know what camera the photographer used.Turns out he used NIKON D3100Would this be a good choice for a first camera?
I googled this camera and supposedly it's not a professional camera. Maybe that photographer was a fraud and not a pro
getting pretty upset thinking about it really, the pictures could maybe have been a lot better if better camera was used. OCD thoughts kicking in hard
I asked chatgpt to recommend me a camera, considering I never had a real camera, but want a great one nonetheless. It recommended:Both the Nikon Z50 and Canon EOS M50 Mark II are exceptional choices for beginners aiming for professional-quality pictures. They offer great image quality, versatility, and the ability to grow with the photographer's skills.I wonder if this is actually good advice or worthless ai slop?...
>>4490564It's stupid to have fomo over image quality if you already really like the pictures.
>>4490574Do you have an opinion on that specific camera though? Is it good? Maybe I will get it
>>4490564It is shit. The controls are shit. Everything stinks. If you want to spend very little money with Nikon, just to learn the basics.Get the Nikon D200 + 35mm f1.8 and 50mm 1.8 + 24mm AI lens. Also buy a bounce flash. This should be very cheap.
>>4490576I would say my budget is about 2000 Euros (including my first lense), not sure what that could get me. I am also open to second hand cameras
Nikon D750 ?
Nikon D780
>>4490573it gives wildly volatile answers to pretty much the same question asked twice. now it told me this
>the camera is what makes a good photographeryou are never going to make it>BUT BUT BUTYeah you queers, better equipment make your life easier but its not the defining factor
>>4490573Canon M50 mk II is a good choice, it's very easy to learn the basics with it, it's small and capable. They stopped making more lenses for this lens mount system (EOS M) so you cannot fall too far into the gearfag spiral. You could get the camera and a lens or few used for like 500-600 euros.
cheapest full frame mirrorless (Nikon z5 / Canon RP / Sony A7iii etc..) + 50mm 1.8 + tripod
>>4490587If you think about what makes art's worth:1) the initial impact you 2) the artist and the story/setting of the artwork3) any special techniques No one looking at your photos should care about your gear, unless you used a pinhole camera or some other weird technique
>>4490575Pretty much any APS-C (this is the sensor size) DSLR from around the same era will be the same as any other APS-C DSLR from the same era. You can probably just get any that you can find for cheap, Canon or Nikon, from facebook marketplace or craigslist and it will effectively the same. Maybe the ISO performance and autofocus will be a little faster on newer models, but that's it. You should understand that most APS-C models are made to be "upgrade bait" in that the companies make them intentionally gimped to tempt you into upgrading. This doesn't mean they don't take good photos, but just something to keep in mind. >>4490577That's heaps. Instead, just get a 5D mark II used, and a 50mm f/1.8 lens. That will get no way near your budget and will be better in literally every way than a Nikon D3100.
