Really like the composition on this one.

Loveley set OP, I can tell you really enjoyed yourself, such a wide breadth of pictures mate.

Nice shots but you dont need to downscale so hard. You get 4mb and most of these are only 150~kb. Would love to see some more of the detail in these.

Thanks anon, Katsuoji was such a nice place to visit despite the influx of tourists. I also spent way too much time visiting every BIC and Yodabashi camera I could find to try and look for Superia Premium but with no luck. All I could get was Fuji 100.

Had a tough time trying to compose and focus quick shots with a manual rangefinder especially since I couldn't frame up anything perfectly due to wearing glasses. Seeing the low-res previews provided by the labs in Japan I was pretty disappointed with the composition of my photos as I'm still getting used to 35mm but I used it as a learning experience and I'm pleased with the final results after coming home and scanning everything myself.
>>
>>4490850
I think this is my favorite of the set. The busyness of the shot works with the overall narrative, rather than against it as it does sometimes in the rest of the images. The old man, not many years left in him is reading a book, surrounded by paintings. All this old media, which in time will be completely forgotten, as he too will be, as the world moves on, increasingly digitized. It's an aesthetic shot, perhaps not the most visually impressive as a few of the other ones at face value, but paired with its context and subject matter, it is the strongest, imo.

I live in Japan, am long out of the honeymoon phase and find most Japan pictures pretty boring, but I do like yours.
>>
>>4492075
Where did you move from, gaijin? I was supposed to visit in April but started a new gig so should wait. The plan is to pick up a Grand Seiko while I'm there, then hit up some camera stores.
>>
Film photographers make me sad, Its clear you are very skilled and good at composition and lighting too. But the horrendous quality and terrible DR of that provia slide is killin me. Especially the terrible compression. Jagged power lines are killing me.

My philosophy is to always have more than you can chew and remove it in post. Art is ofc all about framing and removing distractions. That crop of mt fuji and the shrine destroyed by three white haired karens makes me seethe, but i assume it was a unavoidable error.

But hey if you are happy, who am i to judge. We all have our preferences
>>
>>4492182

I'm holding off until I can justify/afford buying the SBGA413 before getting my first GS.

Germany. Been here for a decade or so now. It's nice, but you also get used to it and I don't find it as exciting to shoot anymore. For me, it's trips back to Europe where I find every second building fascinating now.
I don't know about other brands, but Sony's are way cheaper here than abroad. The downside is that the firmware is only available in Japanese, but you can use some tool from GitHub to unlock English.
>>
When I was in Japan last year the price difference of electronics wasn't that much different, though I wasn't really looking hard (mostly bic camera and random stores) Food and drink was cheap though

Good stuff anon, excited to see what you come up with.
My first few trips to Japan I shot on digital (Canon 1300D + 55-250mm) and had a really fun time being able to have the flexibility of a digital sensor.
Film is way more constrictive, especially depending on the camera, but is rewarding in its own way.
