I have an upcoming portrait session and I want to use a key light and then have a rim light like in this photo. What ratio should the rim light be compared to the key to get this look? Also I cannot believe how bad google search is these days, all I can find is completely wrong information. Didn't use to be like this.Literally impossible to just find a good article showing diff ratios of rimlight on people.I can test at home on myself obviously but I have black hair and the model will have blonde hair so its risky.Surely this is known information taking into account its just basic fundamental 3 point lighting information.
>>4495107I found this but wtf, how can you have the ratio 1:1 and get the rim so much brighter than the key?this wasnt matching what i got.
>>4495107lmfao at her backlit hair. my god 99% of photographers suck sooo much cock its unreal. like a iphone on portrait filter is better
>>4495110you are missing the point, its not just hitting her hair, its hitting that pole beside her making it look much more 3d, its also lighting tons of the background.I have 2 strobes so one setup is the usual key and fill, but then I can vary it by doing a second setup with key and rim, and as long as my key is close to front on it will look nice.
