is this a good camera ?going to get my first camera soon
it is very good
>>4498938The thing is, I am sort of looking for my first but also my last camera if that makes sense. I have absolutely no intention in buying something I will regret and end up having to buy something better later
>>4498938what do you think about the lense that it comes with in this case?
>>4498940That lens is no good, kit lenses never are. If you feel like spending a lot, buy the RF primes. EF lenses are at least as good, but they get a littlte longer with the adapter.
>>4498942could you recommend an exact model of lens that would be good for a variety of situations?
>>4498943EF 35mm f1.4, cheap but still incredible, version II is even better but much more expensive. Or EF 24-70mm II zoom, it should cover everything with insane image quality.
>>4498946"People" like you should be banned, or more simply executed on sight. This thread already is gearfag central with a mental retard wanting to buy a $3k camera kit without even knowing how to take a photo with a phone, but your reply truly is disgusting
>>4498952WHAT?! Everything I recommended is available to anyone with an income.
>>4498957literally the 24-105 included in the kit is already overkill for the next 10 years of your photographic life. if you truly want to drop that amount of money on something you have no idea you'll even care about in 5 months, what you have posted is excellent beyond measure
>>4498960That lens is shit.
>>4498952OP here. I don't use a phone. I reject the surveillance industrial complex
>>4498955Don't mind the poorfag
>>4498946Thanks
>falling for the "spend thousands on a camera" memeHopefully the return policy is good
>>4498970This doesn't make sense, an EF 35mm is not an expensive lens!
>>4498976But it's amazing
get a canon R8 instead and spend the difference on a better lense, maybe even several EF L-series lenses which are extremely cheap second hand for how good they areStart with a general purpose lens like a EF 24-105 f4L ($300 second hand), and after taking pictures for a couple of months you'll get an idea for what other lenses to get
No recent thread has felt more like a bit thread than this one. This is just uncanny.
>>4498952>you arent good enough to deserve owning nice things!Jump off a bridge, commie.
>>4498936it's great. But I'd recommend nikon z5ii though, as it's better in value unless you love canon and video is important.
>>4498992Nikon doesn’t have autofocus cross points. It cant focus on horizontal lines. Not even the z8 can. The r6ii and r8 have hundreds of cross type points. Dont waste your time with that third rate brand unless you’re on a strict budget AND are exclusively adapting film lenses - but not F AF-D lenses or EF mount because nikon cant support their own shit let alone canons. A film-like sensor stack thickness and adapter friendly mount is all nikon has going for it. Otherwise they have the some of the worst ergonomics, color science, and autofocus to be found on real cameras. Almost as bad as fake cameras like panasonics.
It should be a very capable camera for quite some time.
>>4498936doesn't really matter, you don't know what you really want until you've shot for awhile, it's a paradox. just go shoot
>>4498997damn did nikon kill your family or something. sorry for your loss
>>4498991who are you quoting, schizo faggot?
>>4498936you're spending $2000 on a camera, it should be a good camera >>4498939what if you dont like/care for the hobbythis is why i shill everyone on 10+ y/o dslrs, you can pick up a canon 5d mark 3 with a 24-105mm L lens for $5-600 in most western countries and end up 80% to what that r6 is capable of with the other 20% being slight increases in dynamic range and autofocus ignore my advice if you shit money though someone has to buy new cameras so i can buy one used 5-10 years from now
Why do people make a big deal about 3000 dollar camera when people are spending over 1000 on a phone which is just a doom scrolling machine with inferior camera
>>4499002What a copout
>>4499015I have a canon 5dm3. It is garbage. Actual garbage. Only experienced photographers could enjoy this shit and only by applying irrelevant technical autism no one gives a fuck about. Even film is less autistic. It also stops metering every 8 seconds no matter what because canon is full of idiots. >slightNo. Massive. Like four to five stops of DR, no more stripey shadow noise, lenses that dont NEED stopped down, 4x more autofocus coverage and significantly less inaccuracy massive. Just buy an R8 and ignore DSLR shills. DSLR shills are zero theory of mind autists and a few narcissists who think their preferences equal enlightenment. DSLRs are for hobbyists who are financially and practically divesting from 99% of photography, have all their technical autism down, and just take boring photos of their pet and some junk on the side of the road sometimes. They’re inconvenient, socially inappropriate, and ridiculously technically inferior devices. For everyone else even the worst mirrorless camera, and fuck, even nikon DX DSLRs, would wipe the floor with the fucking 5D3. The worst canon mirrorless (RP) kicks its ass. It is the “i quit digital photography” camera. Or the “i need something to collect dust in case the camera thats actually better than my phone breaks” camera.
>>4499037even the canons contemporaries like the d800 and d750 are so much better its unreal
>>4499034>people are spending 1000 on a phoneAlmost all flagship phones are sold as part of contracts with cellphone providers and are paid in monthly installments. Nobody buys them up front. Also 4chan is the type of place where you find the fringe incels who do weird stuff like buying cheaper phones cash.
>>4499043Bullshit
>>4499037Idk man, I agree with the overall sentiment of buy what you can afford, but the anti-DSLR shit is a bit heavy.Okay, so what did people use when they wanted a proper camera before MILCs became a thing? I own an R8 and a 50D (and an SLR but it's not relevant here). I used that 50D from 2017-2023. When the R8 came out I bought it like the month of. Maybe a 50D isn't a great comparison since it was relatively old, but the two things that actually were a straight upgrade was the DR and the weight. The EVF is nice, and I think I prefer it if I had to choose, but using an OVF is equally as pleasant.Whatever, all I'm trying to say is that the gap between DSLR and MILC is not as girthy as you want it to be. I think the biggest barriers to DSLRs are the weight and bulk, and that those are the only inherit advantage going mirrorless gets you; eliminating the mirror box was primarily a bulk-saving advancement. If DSLRs were being made this year, they'd be using sensors, software, and tech that the MILCs are using, but you'd have a mirror box. That's about it.>inb4 focus peeking, exposure preview, 20x zoom etc.Are all gravy points, and not actually necessary. It's kind of nice going back and using the SLR just to use a more basic device.
>>4498988Heil Hitler!I've started questioning all interactions and comments online. It has gotten to the point where I just ignore what may be actual humans because they don't pass the vibe check. Botting is out of hand completely.
>>4499034There is a lot of thirdie poorfag copium around these here parts of the internet.
>>4498988What's a bit thread?
>>4499054Not to mention I specifically mentioned I prefer to buy something that will serve me for years to come right off the bat, not buy a crappy one and go through several iterations of upgrading. Fuck that shit
>>4499062are you going to stick with the hobby or is it going to be a $3000 paperweight you forgot you even own?7/10 times the latter happens either people can't get the pictures they want or they can't adapt to the change in workflow over a cellphone
>>4499063I just want a camera that gives great pictures. And also for ideological reasons I don't use a cell phone.
>>4499064Then get a powershot or whatever fuji offers that will just produce jpegs with pre-applied filters
>>4499065But I want my pictures to look professional grade, not shitty phone pictures. I have autism possibly and very high standards
>>4499065This is terrible advice anon. That's what you tell normies that say they want a camera that isn't a phone. For anyone who actually wants to give a shit and do things properly, you don't recommend fooji of all shit, jfc.>>4499066High standards are fine so long as you understand the results are dependent on you and you might dissapoint yourself for a good long while (if maybe for good). Not trying to be discouraging, but raising the skill ceiling still relies on you being skillful.
>>4499068I really doubt I can't learn how to press a button while having a camera pointer to an object at the right distance, right lighting, right background, right camera setting. Photography is not rocket science
>>4499048> Okay, so what did people use when they wanted a proper camera before MILCs became a thing?A tripod. A flash. A trigger. A strobe set. A diffuser. A reflector. A GND filter set. Bracketing. Prefocusing and spamming shots. When tech hit the d750/5div level it became more tolerable… with an IS/VR lens. That was huge. And usually a zoom. Seriously just get a mirrorless camera. DSLRs were so bad they created the consumer camera segment by being less practical than the compact 35mm SLRs normal people used to use. Even when tech got “not so bad” DSLRs were STILL less practical and more offensive by their very presence than typical dad cameras - film SLRs from the 70s. Japan rather enjoyed this because they could suddenly sell pros a new camera every year because pros break cameras, and consumers a new camera every year because consumers dont break pro-ish cameras but do break and get frustrated with dogshit small sensor PNSes. Japan still enjoys this which is why only one company made the slightest attempt to return 35mm to normal people (sony) and they did so while ripping half the shutter out and giving it a smaller evf than the fuckin a6700 as if to say “fuck you peasant lmao buy the next model if you disappoint. only pro allowed to be satisfy with furr frame and onry with BIG camera! Maybe buy ewaste peasanr deserve wwww JAPAN BEST BUSINESS MODEL!”Thank god technology improved. Early digital had less DR than film and still has worse resolution (and xtranny color bleed/bayer rainbow nonsense). Just better sharpness.
>>4499071Also to clarifyDigital handles hand shake and focus misses less gracefully than filmOn film it doesnt aesthetically stand out because film is high resolution low sharpnessOn digital it’s a jarring contrast between low resolution high sharpness and no resolution no sharpnessSo digital needs to be built and used to a higher standard just to not be that much worse than 100 year old technology, aesthetically (not mtf function contrast rise distance chart nonsense-ly)
Yet another failed thread because people can't answer a fucking question but insist on complaining about price or rant about the intricate skill of pressing a button
>>4499066Professional grade for what? Instagram?
>>4499066>>4499068You said great pictures, and the pictures that these cameras produce are frankly great.A mirrorless camera will produce good pictures which you can then turn amazing using external tools
