>>4510638This would be great if the highlight rolloff wasn't so harsh.

Been walking around a lot lately
Cool shots, man. I like>>4510617>>4510725>>4510728>>4510733though my favorite is probably >>4510726I would recommend going a little easier on the sharpening, especially on the grainier shots. Also, on >>4510638: as the other anon said, it would benefit from gently rolling off the highlights so they don't look like harsh spots of pure white. Picrel is one way to do it with curves, but you could experiment and check out some online tutorials to see other methods.
>>4510815Thanks. Those small res ones were made for my IG account so thats why they're probably too sharp when viewed larger. And thanks for the screen shot of suggested settings.

>>4511430It looks like you scanned a print of a stamp or something like that. It's kind of a cool look.

>>4515739Oh boy my plane photo made it. This is fantastic for my /p/ ego. Bless up critic anon
>>4516000>Bless up critic anonGeez, are there really not that many photos posted or does he have a random taste?I remember an anon posting a great air show pic that is on level with that one he had there. Or perhaps i am old enough to remember some anons doing some decent work.
>>4516006My assumption is he isn't here for every single thread but the taste does appear to be slightly random. How long ago was the other air show pic? The one of the 3 planes he saved was posted a couple weeks ago.
>>4516009>How long ago was the other air show pic?Years ago but i don't recall exactly, more than 2 for sure, it was a jet fighter doing a similar maneuver.I recall it often because he cropped out the horizon and it looked like the camera was among the clouds, similar to that one pic in the folder but i think the effect on the old photo was more exaggerated.
was walking the dog and had my camera with me. first photo of a bird ive ever taken
I call this one sticks and leaves.>>4516010Very nice, but next time you need to make sure his nose is also in focus or you'll be in very big trouble.>>4516000Really cool shot. Time to make some prints and maybe you can get your thumb in the good pictures folder as well. Hah
>>4516027>but next time you need to make sure his nose is also in focus or you'll be in very big troubleI had been shooting wide open most of the day oopsie pls forgive me>>4516027>Time to make some printsI've been shooting for about 3 years and I've never actually printed a photo before. Perhaps that's my next task within the hobby
>>4516029
>>4516029You definitely should make some prints. Framed pictures have a much different presence than just viewing them on a screen or whatever. I strongly believe that printing images and viewing them on the wall helps develop your photographic sense in a unique way as well.Even a premium digital print is worth getting if you wanted to dabble. Darkroom prints are the best tho.Just look how slick this darkroom print looks.
is this the thread?postan
>>4516169Nice photo. Kinda trippy and I love trippy photos
Tried to do a double exposure in camera... experimented a little
>>4516375Double exposures are a thing digital cameras cant do without compositing in post.Makes me jealous abt film a lil bit.Nice composition love it.
>>4516376Thank you!!I’m not really into doing in post because it would be more photo manipulation than just photography. That’s why I’ve tried to take both shots straight at the camera.
>>4516380>it would be more photo manipulation than just photographySad perspective
I haven't posted in a while. I hope you guys are doing alright.

I love this guy.
>>4511430the soft noise lends itself nicely to the fox's elegance and seemingly uncertain, wandering expression. the color palette is restricted in an appropriately solemn and restful way. it looks like how the pressure dropping before a summer storm feels. i like it a lot. very shoegazerug.
>>4516494Cute cat, anon
>>4516685"boring generic fireworks shot" but I like this a lot still, nice shot
>>4516710Great July vibe in this one.>>4516887Fantastic bird shot.
>>4516710That’s nice. It’s the dappled lighting that makes it.
>>4516699The reflection off the car elevates this from a standard fireworks shot to something special.
>>4516686I like this one too actually. Could you explain your settings for these shots? I tried photographing some recently and I was disappointed with the results.

>>4516939>>4516940thanks, this is actually from april but was lazy with dropping off film, slowly posting the best few from the lot of rollsprobably my favorite of all>using reto-pano 35mm p/s cinestill iso400D
>>4516972from the same roll
>>4516888>>4516942Thanks, man. Those are long exposures shot from a tripod. ISO 800, f/13, 30 second shutter. Pic rel is ISO 100, f/10, 30 second shutter. Focus was at infinity on all shots. Not sure that these were ideal settings, but this was my first time shooting fireworks. Bulb mode may produce better results.

>>4516944Good concept bad executionToo monotone. Color adds nothing. water doesn’t stand out. 4/10>>4516945>>4516946Random snapshots>>4516993Composed around the center focus point, rockwelled up, just a dog standing thereAre you new to photography? If you want to do it as art, start with shooting black and white jpegs with an orange and yellow filter until your photos look good then expand into serious subjects like colors and rawsYou quoted all your posts like you want us to notice a set, but these aren’t a set. Nothing ties them together. Its like you took some random photos on a disappointing outing and then went home to let your dog out to piss. Such art /s

There are two photographic styles on /p/ i thinkNormal, and pixel peeper aka gear normie and gear nerdNormal photos look good instantlyPixel peeper photos are of nothing and work more like i-spy games. The point of a pixel peeper photo is to notice something, look closely, and go “oh that’s neat”. Pixel peeping photographers tend to use more saturation and vibrance to make small things stand out as they grow out of using bokeh to emphasize what they want to zoom in on. Normal photographers tend to avoid oversaturation unless it really fits the whole scene. this is a pixel peeper photo >>4516946this is a normal photo >>4516950once you see this pattern you won’t un-see it. it’s all over /rpt/.

>>4517038thank you for the compliment!
>>4517038What do you call a pixel peeper photo was a sloppily taken photo of nothing
Taking a photo of all your lenses is a difficult task; I could've used my phone but I hate the warped perspective on phone cameras so I borrowed my Dad's Olympus E-PL5. This thing feels weird and different, like wearing a pair of someone else's socks.
