hello, many years ago a very nice asian man gave this to me. has anyone seen this kind of bird before and if its called anything? i want to learn how to make it without taking it apart.thanks
Imho, try to get a beginner origami book. Like John Montroll's. Fold a few models. You'll realize the Asian guy didn't do very complicated stuff. And you can replicate it after you open it. Obviously practice turning your folds into flat paper again before opening this one.
>>627756>opening this onefilm it so you can post a WebM if you get stuck
>>627754yeah, it's a waterbomb base, then flatten in half the top and bottom flaps, petal fold the top flap, that will make the head/beakmodify the tip so it looks like a head, and decorate by cutting the feathers in the wings and tailI could draw you a diagram but with these instructions and a bit of bing search should be enoughit's pretty simple frienalso fuck these unhelpful bastards
>>627864Please stop larping as an expert. It’s off-putting.
okay, here's my best shot, /po/>fold a square piece of paper horizontally, vertically, and across both diagonals. fold three corners to the center, then cut along these lines>make a waterbomb base from the remaining square>fold halfway>petal fold the top flaps up across that previous fold
>reverse fold the top corners>make the folds to the center for the entire square>open the paper up, sink in the fold>do the same for the other side
>your model should look like this now>take one of the top 'pincers' and unfurl both folds to have this tag sticking out>reverse fold along the small fold you just unfurled to make the tag slimmer>open up both 'pincers'. insert the edge marked orange directly under the edge marked green>you should now have three flaps that can move freely from one another
>mountain and valley fold along the neck to form the head and beak>flip the model over. fold the horizontal fold from earlier back. after this, you can optionally curl it>fold the paper across the main diagonal>fold the paper back down (with this, I just folded back around 1/4 of the trapezoid height)>flip the model over again. make cuts for the wings. on the bottom tail section, trim the sides off to be similar in width to the head, then remove the trimmings (watch out for any little bits that are still barely connected to the wings). then make cuts for the tail feathers
>your model should look like this>fold the length of wound-up paper back, its thickness will help you shape the body. then shape the head, beak, wings, and tailthis ended up being a cute model, thank you for the challenge, OP
>>627876I kneel.
i will also add that once you shape the bird, you can hold it like a dart with your fingers on the wing joints and then throw it. it has good momentum and gives some nice twirls for show
>>627879Wat.
>>627883throw it in the air.it moves like a Badminton birdie
>>627884>Badminton birdieWat. Those don't fly when thrown.
>>627886make a bird and find out
>>627754it looks similar to a swallow i wonder what bird it is
