Chancellor Merz:

Everything indicates that Putin's imperialist plan would not end with the conquest of Ukraine, but would only begin with it.

The fact that Ukraine is also defending our freedom in Europe, that we are defending it together with Ukraine, is not just political bluster. It is a fact from which we must, and already have, drawn consequences: to support Ukraine in its struggle for peace in Europe, to stand by its side. And this may last for a very long time.

Peskov blamed Europe for the absence of peace in Ukraine:

"There was a statement [by the EC president Ursula von der Leyen] that Ukraine needs to be turned into 'a steel hedgehog.' To use a Cold War-era cliché, this is rabid European militarism. Such a position by the Europeans does not facilitate but, on the contrary, hinders the settlement process," he said.

Peskov also said that the number of countries that understand "the root causes of the SMO" is growing.

Ukrainian Defenders evacuated a wounded soldier using a ground robot for the first time.

Soldiers from the 141st Mechanized Brigade are already using ground robots on the frontlines. They evacuated a wounded soldier who had crawled toward Ukrainian positions for three days.

"There was adrenaline, because now you realize you're not carrying 20 packs of water, but a person. At first, the pilots guided us like a regular pickup truck driving to the zero line," a ground robot operator with the callsign "Tanchyk" said.

During the first weeks of using ground robots, Defenders delivered more than a ton of supplies to the battlefield, evacuated 13 wounded soldiers, and brought back the bodies of eight fallen Heroes.

In recent weeks, Ukrainian drones have demonstrated the most effective 'sanctions' against the Russian oil industry, delivering dozens of successful strikes on major Russian refineries and energy infrastructure facilities in Russia's rear.

Production halts, disruptions at enterprises, a fuel crisis, gasoline shortages, kilometer-long lines at gas stations, record-high price increases – these are all the results of the work of Ukrainian drones.

In addition, destroying fuel reserves near the frontlines negatively affects the combat capability of the Russian army and the military-industrial complex as a whole.

* Regular attacks on Russian refineries and oil depots started last year. The current campaign is focused on all plants in key regions of consumption and processing.

Its effects are becoming increasingly tangible, in part due to sanctions and the lack of imported equipment needed to repair damaged facilities.

* In August 2025 alone, the following were attacked:
◾ 02.08 – Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery
◾ 02.08 – Ryazan oil refinery
◾ 03.08 – fuel depot at Sochi Airport (Krasnodar Krai)
◾ 07.08 – Afipsky oil refinery (Krasnodar Krai)
◾ 08.08 – Ertan oil depot near the Millerovo air base (Rostov region)
◾ 10.08 – Saratov oil refinery
◾ 12.08 – Unecha Transneft-Druzhba oil pumping station (Bryansk region)
◾ 14.08 – Volgograd oil refinery
◾ 18.08 – Nikolskoye-Transneft oil pumping station (Tambov region)
◾ 20.08 – Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery (Rostov region)
◾ 21.08 – Unecha Transneft-Druzhba oil pumping station
◾ 22.08 – Albashneft oil refinery (Krasnodar Krai)
◾ 24.08 – Syzran oil refinery (Samara region)
◾ 24.08 – Oil export terminal in Ust-Luga (Leningrad region)
◾ 28.08 – Kuibyshev oil refinery (Samara region)

◾ 30.08 – Krasnodar oil refinery
◾ 30.08 – Syzran oil refinery

According to Reuters, by the end of August 2025, Ukraine's long-range strikes had disrupted at least 17% of Russia's refinery capacity.

Experts predict that gasoline shortages caused by the ongoing attacks on refineries could lead to rising inflation and further macroeconomic instability in Russia.

To save the situation, the Kremlin is urgently:
◾ seeking opportunities to purchase fuel from Belarus;
◾ extending restrictions on gasoline exports;
◾ introducing gasoline coupons;
◾ revising its oil export plan to at least somehow sell the crude freed up after key refineries were brought out of operation (and this amid existing restrictions on Russia's shadow fleet and the threat of secondary sanctions for countries buying Russian energy resources);
◾ using all available public platforms to get a so-called 'energy truce' from Kyiv.

Economic pressure and targeted strikes deep inside Russia are a path to negotiations.

Despite the economic cooperation agreement signed at the end of August, relations between Moscow and Baku continue to deteriorate rapidly.

This was evident at the meeting between Putin and President Aliyev at the SCO summit in China, where they just did a brief handshake without any substantive dialogue.

On September 8, an Azerbaijani citizen was detained in Russian Stavropol region (on the video). According to the Russian FSB, he was preparing terrorist attacks under the instructions of "Ukrainian handlers." The man was allegedly collecting components for explosive devices and conducting reconnaissance of the sites in Yessentuki and Stavropol, including buildings of law enforcement agencies.

Despite its absurdity, this case fits into the context of the Kremlin's ongoing policy aimed at putting pressure on Baku. Earlier, leaders of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia were arrested, propagandists issued threats about a new "special operation," and attacks occurred on facilities of the Azerbaijani state oil and gas company SOCAR in Odesa region.

The Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia is one of the largest and most influential ethnic groups in Russia. According to official data, around 670,000 Azerbaijanis live in the country, and including migrants and temporary workers, this number may exceed one million.

The diaspora is organized into dozens of regional communities that actively participate in economic, cultural, and charitable life. Members of the Azerbaijani business elite are among Russia's wealthiest individuals: Vagit Alekperov (founder of Lukoil, $20.5 billion), Zarakh Iliev and God Nisanov (co-owners of Kievskaya Ploshchad Group, $2.9 billion each), and Aras Agalarov (owner of the Crocus Group, $1.2 billion).

Azerbaijanis are also an active part of Russia's Muslim community (over 20 million people).
Therefore, any attempt to pressure Azerbaijanis in Russia could escalate into an interfaith conflict and become a serious domestic problem for the Kremlin.

The aggravation of Russia-Azerbaijan relations should be viewed against the backdrop of a changing geopolitical balance in the South Caucasus, a region where Moscow is increasingly losing its foothold.

A key point of tension is the Zangezur corridor, which passes through the Armenian province of Syunik and connects Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave.

Initially, the reopening of the route was formalized in a trilateral agreement between Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia following the Second Karabakh War in 2020 and was supposed to be carried out under Moscow's supervision.

However, in the summer of 2025, the situation changed drastically: with President Trump acting as mediator, the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan signed an agreement transferring control of the corridor section to the United States for 99 years. This project could become a tool for Washington to increase pressure on Iran and expand the influence of the US and Turkey in the region.

Russia has not officially voiced strong criticism of these agreements. However, there is a high likelihood that Moscow will attempt to slow down the project's implementation through its leverage, including control over Armenian railways.

At the same time, Baku holds an important trump card - the transit of Russian gas to Iran through its territory. This energy route makes Azerbaijan a key regional energy hub. Moscow needs a gas corridor to Iran, which forces the Kremlin to take Azerbaijan's interests into account and limits its ability to exert active pressure.

Russian officials continue pursuing an anti-Finland rhetoric:

As I constantly analyze Russia's war against Ukraine and, accordingly, the situation in Russia, I am inclined to interpret events in Nepal by drawing parallels.

Nepal has demonstrated that in a closed system, an explosion is possible. Russia is no exception.

Social media are currently being blocked on a massive scale in Russia, and they are not only a tool of manipulation, but also a tool of freedom. Blocking them is a blow to normal life and, above all, to communication among youth.

The uprising in Nepal occurred (according to my understanding), in part, as a result of systematic suppression of youth: blocked "social elevators", absurd prohibitions, and the shutting down of digital channels led to an explosion that the authorities could not control. Similar processes are happening in Russia, exacerbated by the ongoing war, repressions, covert mobilization, and lack of prospects.

If Russia continues to "tighten the screws", a Russian rebellion could become very bloody, involving not only young people but also 'veterans' of the so-called 'SMO.' The consequences could be irreversible, especially in the current situation, where the Kremlin intends to keep tightening the screws, and opportunities for social mobility are dwindling.

I'd like to share with you an opinion by a Ukrainian expert Oleksii Kopytko regarding Ukrainian and Russian air defense and strikes on Russian oil refineries.

Russians continue killing civilians day and night in Ukraine.

Several days ago, a representative of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence said that Russia is preparing to reach production volumes of 2,700 Shahed drones with warheads per month - about 90 per day.

A month earlier, Defense Intelligence deputy chief Major General Vadym Skibitskyi stated that Russia is ramping up production and plans to manufacture about 79,000 long-range drones in 2025: 40,000 Shahed drones (around 110 per day on average, with output growing toward the end of the year), 34,000 Gerbera drones (about 93 per day, also with growth), and 5,700 Harpies.

In total, according to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia’s average daily production of long-range drones this year (including decoys, with output increasing by year’s end) at around 210-215 per day.

Thus, it should reach ~250 drones per day by December.

There are also predictions that there will be large-scale Russian drone attacks of 600 to 800 drones every night. Where do these figures come from?
Russians have been stockpiling drones for several months. The difference between what they’ve produced and what they’ve launched so far is about 2,800 units. This allows them to alternate periods of lower-intensity strikes with massive attacks.

That means Russia already has reserves for at least 5-6 massive attacks. But it doesn't look like there will be "1,000 Shahed drones every day."

Is it possible to build an air/missile defense system that can reliably intercept 500+ mixed targets (missiles and drones of different types) per day? Realistically, it isn't.

The best proof is Russia itself.

>I'd like to share with you an opinion by a Ukrainian expert Oleksii Kopytko regarding Ukrainian and Russian air defense and strikes on Russian oil refineries.

Just last week, I [Oleksii Kopytko] posted about an oil refinery in [Russia's] Krasnodar region. Within a 20×40 km area there are three large refineries (Ilsky, Afipsky, and Krasnodar - in practice four sites). Several days ago, Ilsky refinery was reported as successfully hit. Previously, it had been attacked several times without significant results.

So, in one month, in one small area of Krasnodar region, (!!!) all the refineries were successfully hit (Afipsky twice).

Did the Russians simply leave such critical facilities to fate? Don't they know the likely routes of attack? They are not idiots. They do know.

But even with their massive layered defense system:

1. ground-based SAMs;
2. long-range detection, EW, and SIGINT systems;
3. interceptor drones;
4. !!! combat aircraft and helicopters operating without interference;
5. mobile ground teams;
6. mechanical defenses (nets, etc.) -

the Russian Federation, a supposed "military superpower," cannot fully protect a cluster of refineries in a tiny square from strikes launched from over 500 km away!

And that’s just one example among many successful deep strikes in Russia in recent months.

What does this tell us?

That Ukrainian and Russian air/missile defense systems are developing at roughly comparable speeds, while in terms of long-range strike capabilities, Ukraine is moving faster - thanks to the "low base effect."

We still entirely depend on partners for ballistic missile interception, which is why we are pushing so hard for reinforcements in that area. Ukraine urgently needs systems like IRIS-T, NASAMS, detection equipment, and fighter aircraft with air-to-air missiles - to reliably counter cruise missiles and attack drones.

Russia targets not only residential buildings, hospitals, and schools, but also Ukraine’s military-industrial facilities every single day. No amount of relocation or underground storage can compensate. We need protected industrial zones, which means deeply layered air/missile defenses beyond Kyiv.

By February 2022, Russia already had most of the missiles it is using today. Some modifications were made to Kinzhal and Zircon missiles, but otherwise, nothing new. They also purchased Shahed drones from Iran and brought in North Korean ballistic missiles.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has managed to thin out Russia’s strategic aviation, Black Sea missile carriers, AEW aircraft, and detection stations.

At the start of 2022, Ukraine had essentially no long-range strike capability.

We’ve come a long way since then.

However, when the bodies of dead Ukrainian children are pulled from under the rubble, no words can ease the pain.

And massive strikes will not stop.

They can be halted for a time by an "air truce." But during that period, Russia will continue stockpiling drones.

The effectiveness of Russian attacks can only be reduced by striking the Russian production chain, storage sites, launch points, and personnel. And that is being done, to the extent possible.

Completely stopping the strikes is only possible with a sustainable ceasefire. That depends on:

▪ resilience of Ukraine’s army on the ground;
▪ resilience of the home front in supporting the Army;
▪ tougher international sanctions;
▪ deeper strikes into Russia to escalate internal problems and reduce its war resources.

Some of this is under our control; some depends on external support. But at minimum, we must ensure our part - including keeping the home front strong.

5. Can Ukraine do more in air/missile defense?

Theoretically, yes - when everyone acts constructively and in the state’s interest. Practically, it’s not that simple.

Imagine Russia striking Poland. Even under NATO’s umbrella, Poland would suffer devastating blows before NATO could react.

Although NATO fully understands all the risks and knows exactly what to do. The nuance is that implementing the right decision is not always possible with a single click.

We need to look at the situation realistically. On the eve of winter, just as we are depleting Russia's oil refining resources, Russia is now stepping up its efforts to deplete our energy system. Combining this with cannibalistic attacks on civilians.

A bridge in Kremenchuk was attacked, which is more important than the fire in the Cabinet of Ministers.

There are no magic solutions here.

There are solutions that can influence the situation. For example, I have written many times about Western weapons with a range of 300-500 km, which could deal a severe blow to the Russian army in a short period of time. Now there is some movement in this area, with promises to sell something. But if there are any real developments, they will not happen until the end of the year.

When I read accusations that Ukraine has not been mass-producing its ballistic missile interception system for three years, I want to remind people that dozens of highly developed and wealthy countries with enormous resources are not even thinking in this direction, but have been waiting in line for years to buy ready-made systems from literally a couple of countries. In other words, commentators are detached from reality.

You would WISH to die in mere seconds from "overkill" instead of suffering agonising death for hours

Any other response is a retard take. When med evac is impossible, this is pretty much textbook humanitarian action to take. Is it reasonable from economical stance? Under normal circumstances, not really, but eh. War sometimes forces you to drop a mine instead of a grenade.

>>
>>515239952
>It's not bullshit.
I know, that was the wrong choice of words on my part. It's mostly that all of the best practices are hard to implement IRL on the frontlines due to their nature being quite a bit more fucked up than any theoretical training takes into account. Kinda like "just drive around the minefields" or "just use a MICLIC to bypass the minefield" or how western training doesn't take into account the modern realities of war in terms of drones being everywhere, both reconnaissance and combat ones.
>>
>>515239750

You immediately apply a tourniquet high and then asap you place one closer to the wound and then correctly release the high one to save as much of the limb as possible

Those practices can become second nature through training.

I myself around 2 weeks ago had to apply a tourniquet and I was under extreme stress at the time but I still.managed to put in on in a way that would've made my instructor proud and the reason I was able to do that is due to having put tourniquets on myself dozens of times as fast and correctly as possible when the instructor would randomly yell tourniquet

The military is full of medical misinformation (e.g. tourniquet risk, blood grooves on bayonets, etc.). You have way longer than you think with a tourniquet, at least 4 hours. Don't believe me though, PubMed it. In the field, I'd do above knee every time, and probably above elbow too. That's also what I'd do with a pneumatic tourniquet in theater.

It's hard to stop a bleed when the vessels are between two bones, and blood loss is your primary concern. If you're not getting secondary care in 4+ hours, then you can trial a lower tourniquet (or two); you'll have better luck as clotting and vasoconstriction will have occurred.

>>
>>515241856
Some of stories I've heard regarding this shit are quite a bit fucked up. Crap like: getting under fire, getting wounded by shrapnel, some part of gear destroyed by shrapnel, so there's basically a single tourniquet on hand and you need to apply it ASAP because people can bleed out quite rapidly otherwise or even worse - they can temporarily lose consciousness from the wound in like a minute or so after getting hit, so even if the wound isn't that bad that you'd bleed out in a minute you can still bleed out because you're lying there unconscious without a tourniquet applied, and thus you apply it instantly as best as you can and then either wait for evac (sometimes for like a day or more, if the fighting is especially intense) or try to crawl back yourself.
