I just wept silently over her death for the first time since actually absorbing this event and I’m not afraid to say it. This look of total shock and betrayal on her face did it for me. The look of total surprise, pain, confusion, helplessness, victimisation, terror, and innocence. After escaping an already war torn country and being brave enough to find employment in a foreign land, she succumbs to this.

Since first hearing about this I have done nothing but spread awareness about it but for the first time I sat down and really looked into her soul at this very moment. And I advice you to do the same.
That look of total helplessness, betrayal and just terror is what we need to remember her for, because that is the face of somebody who has seen all that the human system has to offer. The face of a complete victim.
We may all have our days where we don’t agree with women, but this is absolutely not the answer. The cowardice required to attack somebody half your size while their back is turned and then immediately run away is inhuman.
It is good that awareness is being spread, but I think what’s important is that we look at the situation and into her eyes and empathise properly. This is absolutely horrific, and what happened to her is disgusting.

I wanted to say I’m sorry for what happened to you Iryna and I sincerely hope you rest in peace, may your soul live on in the form of karma and the societal ripples your death will cause through the masses. RIP
