in 1850s denver had about 15k people living in it - they would put the bodies of murdered victims of the commanche up in open coffins in the center of town so everyone could see the bodies. Hangings used to be public so the women and children could see what happens to criminals - so everyone could. Something about the 1960s broke the spirit of americans and westerners were they all hide from violence now and that's a big part of why they don't react the correct way anymore and are all apathetic about it. They need to be forced to see it - and absolutely not exclusively from movies and tv shows that always fuck it up and soften it. They need to see how a person goes from being alive to being processed meat.
