I am unsure if this applies to eBooks (I've never used KDP before), but it seems like books can absolutely choose their publishing date. This Loeb copy of De Officiis is listed as being published in 1913, which obviously means the lister must have entered that date. Although, perhaps this is something that can only be done with Amazon's approval or maybe only for print books?I have tried to find some info about publication date in Amazon's documentation, but all I could find was stuff about release date (which is just when people can buy it, so unrelated).
