>>516290410Nah I'm actually probably moving from a 180gr Barnes TTSX to a 160gr specifically because I have been getting so many clean hole punches like this shot. Upping the velocity for monolithic solids apparently increases wound channel more than upping the grain like the partitions/bonded rounds I grew up with. My last several deer have been a clean punch through with this bullet specifically, with wound channels smaller and exit wounds less pronounced than even a 62gr 556 Barnes TTSX. Oddly enough. Also exit wounds don't just like leak, they SPRAY and it's almost vaporized from the speed. Lots of tiny little droplets further away than you'd expect at first. Given the angle of the shot, this spray was directed downwards which is why we don't see it smatter things behind him.I haven't shoot any moose but I've shot deer with a .300wm and the wound all comes down to where you hit. A moose spine is tough and the projectile is going to distort and carry a lot more through with it. Human necks are pretty soft so I don't find it surprising at all that it was just a hole punch. Deer necks are, from my many neck shots, pretty similar. The bullet doesn't have the time in flesh to really even begin to yaw let alone tumble, which is what causes more devastation and larger exit wounds. That .30cal was still absolutely cruising after passing through him.
