Wasn't the point of the game that, the person with the most shekels at the end of their life and retirement wins? And the amount of children or other possessions acquired essentially translated into being worth a certain amount of shekels each?
Pro-boomer worldview propaganda I would say.

absolutely. your entire worth is based on how much you hold in money and assets, and there's this prevailing idea that shit like taking ski trips and buying luxury vehicles are just opportunities and networking that result in even more income later on.
why are young adults so lazy? they should be taking tropical vacations with the money they earn from their part time job and meeting people, then they could have vibrant careers working alongside all these like-minded people they come across. it's so easy!
what do you mean "no jobs"? those brown people with all the jobs are just more dedicated and you have to show initiative. what do you mean "expensive luxuries"? of course they're supposed to be expensive, they're luxuries. no, i won't elaborate on how i afforded them as a teen.

Tru

IIRC, the version I played (2007 I think) had a "cape house" (McMansion in a northeast US suburb) cost $140,000. Which is hilarious in retrospect.

In HS (2021) I had a phase where I pretended to be an unc looking for houses and seeing what the nicest suburbs were, and my current town's houses were all 500k to over 1m. Even the townhouses. Condos were like 300k. Rn I live in a townhouse that costed 200-300k (I asked my folks) when they bought it after the Great Recession.

Funny thing is there were some houses like that cape house in random suburbs in like Ohio and the Carolinas that did cost under 200k until like 2020. Now they cost like 400-500k, while in my town they're all like 800k or more.

A well-defined metric for "success" I've set for myself all my life is being able to start a family, and having our family's quality of life surpass mine when I was a kid. What I mean is my kids being able to go to country clubs, travel to Europe, learn skiing well enough to go to Colorado or Vermont during winters, rent a limo for prom, go camping or fishing with their dad every now and then, join a Scouting troop, choose their own religion, and overall have more freedom and less restriction than I did as a kid.

Got it. So just lick the sweat off of a nearby Peter Thiel's salty nut sack with the patent Kamala-Vance life strategy and one day I can retire in my exponentially increasing in value 3 story house and sell my previous cuckshed I raised my 1.2 children that is now worth 8 figures because Banksterstein economics. Guess so seems it works. Lovely.

I became a manager at work and retired before I moved out. I'm skipping all that trivial bs and now I'm ahead of the pack
