There have been several attempts to refurbish it but all have failed because the vast majority of rank and file UN staffers are from the third world and they steal whatever money ends up being appropriated for it.I got selected for an internship there when I was in law school, but a bunch of internships that year got cancelled, including that one, because the offices weren't safe for people to work in. I don't know what its currently like, but the guy I got the internship for told me that the big chunks of the building were just blocked off because of how bad they were (water leaks, no AC/heat, mold, exposed wires, etc...)IIRC there was an attempt to relocate the UN to a different building about 10 years ago due to how bad the current building is, but it failed because they blew all of the money that was supposed to be spent on it paying people to argue over where it was supposed to be built.
