The original 2nd Amendment was written in a slightly vague way because even then, they were weasel politicians who want to have laws that impact the plebes, but not them.The important element in the wording is: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State..." This is followed by the sweeping conclusion " the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." There's no "if" in the amendment. The only legal interpretation is that we have the right, and no selective definitions of what constitutes "arms" or constraints that they need to used by a well regulated militia are stated. It is only open to interpretation regarding the use of those arms, not the possession thereof. Roughly translated, a mob with guns is not a legitimate rebellion against tyranny.
