But each congregation of Mormons is called a ward. And a cluster of wards is called a stake. The president of each stake sets aside high priests to travel around to each ward once a month to make sure everything is in order. After the iron curtain fell over east Germany the GDR Mormons were cut off from almost all salt lake city oversight for almost two decades.
