This cost £46 in the UK, many Americans are absolutely stunned saying it would cost at least $150 there. How are food prices and quality in YOUR country?

>£46
>$150
nah. it's probably about $100 worth of stuff, though, which is an atrocity considering the current exchange rate.
two weeks ago, i bought the stuff to make myself tacos and have a few days worth of food.
>2lbs ground beef
>2 10pks flour tortillas
>1lb monterey jack cheese
>1lb tomatoes
>1 huge ass onion
>2 packs of spring mix
>8oz tub sour cream
>hot sauce
>gallon of milk for my coffee
$85
the 2lb pack of ground beef was almost $20 by itself. the brick of cheese was $9. the rest of the items were about twice as much as you would expect to pay for each one.
>>

get rid of the goychips and exchange the package rice for 10lbs of rice and this is doable for $50 in upstate new york.

>>
>>517615371

>>
>>517615371
That's mostly cheap shit and comes to $62 USD. I'm not sure that's much of a difference than here. Am I correct in remembering that your groceries are exempt from VAT? If so, that's the one thing I would give the UK over the US.
>>
>>517623642
Are you shitting me? That would not be $130 at HEB. Chicken thighs are 1.58 / lb right now and regularly go for .99 on sale. Breasts like OP are 3.49 / lb. Each packet of rice like that can be roughly 1.50. Bananas are .49 / lb. Bagels are 3-4 dollars a bag. Cheap ground beef is 6.49 / lb. I can't tell what cut the "steaks" are, and the chicken kievs don't have a really standard equiv in that form but you'd guess 6-8 dollars. Pork sausage is cheap-- sub 5 a lb. Everything else would vary a lot here but would be 3-5 dollars for the most part. Also, HEB is straight up cheaper than Kroger and on par with Walmart with better quality stuff. I don't know what crack you are smoking. Go try to get groceries in NM and see how expensive and shitty Smith's is.
>>
>>517624447
all I know is how fast a $20 goes and believe me, when you're buying steaks for example they're around $13 on average, $15 at most. unless you're crazy and buy the $17, $20 dollar ones.

that's 1 or 2 things/items per $20. 2-3 at most, concerning the meats. $20 and $20 = $40 that's 5 expensive items, 7 cheap ones give or take the remaining $10 and taxes.
>>
>>517624839
I think your complaints are issues with the price of things in general, not specific to where you are at. The price of beef nationally is very high right now. And I agree, it blows.
>>
>>517624447
LMAO its $130 at Walmart with my mom's discount.

a full shopping cart for a family of 4 definitely is over $300 ~$350, $370 at HEB. Expensive fucking shithole of a store you'd think the white fat single mothers were sucking you off.

I have a pretty simple diet, so it's actually not very expensive. 95 percent of my meals are some combination of eggs, rotisserie chicken, green beans, spinach, refried beans and simple salads. Once every 5 days, I have one cheat meal where I can eat whatever I want. I am more of an 'eat to live' type of person, so I find a simple menue suits me best. And I really like eggs and chicken anyway, so I never feel like I'm missing out.

Nah, it's pretty accurate. If you're in central London things will be more expensive but to get that amount of food for that cost is not unreasonable elsewhere. The real reason is the pound being undervalued since Brexit simultaneous with the dollar being overvalued in the past few years due to reserve currency status biting hard.

uk bottom tier beef is literally the reason why mad cow disease is a thing now. yall are flooding the food chain with prions and cruck jacob disease.

all this food is like 70 bucks here where i live. when i used to live in seattle it was closer to 80-90 usd. meat is insanely cheap here in the usa, especially the parts of the chicken no one wants, $0.89/lb, or most cuts of pork ~2$/lb. beef was always 7-9$/lb of good cuts, usually 4$/lb for lower cuts. has been higher the last couple months like 11-14$/lb for flat iron/nystrip.
if you are not lazy its super easy to live off 2-3$ worth of food per day but you have to like cooking and always be willing to try new things. not that new, like feeding old cattle to baby cattle, thats what the uk did for decades to create mad cow lol
>>
>>517635466
>uk bottom tier beef is literally the reason why mad cow disease is a thing now.
Except it's not.

Cope and seethe with your low grade meat, the only people that eat American beef are Mutts, Mexicans and Chinese most other countries and the EU ban it.

Food is cheap in the UK because there's like 7 different supermarkets all competing with each other
>>
>>517637005
And countries like America, Canada, Australia, mainland Europe only have 1 supermarket right?
>>
>>517636568
walmart always has more expensive meat but sometimes better/weird cuts.
their veggies are cheaper though. not as cheap as winco tho. all grocery stores do stuff like that.

never really buy that brand foster farms, its always double the store brand price and they all come from the same distributers normally.
they usually sell packs of like 8lb of thighs for 5$ coz no one buys the ones with bone/skin.

if you look for the "cuts no one wants" like quarters that take a little bit more time to prep, youll start to see what i am talking about.
usually they dont advertise the cheapest option online and when you go into the store they do 30-50% discounts on most meat that has sat on the shelf for more than 2 days. (most grocery store meat is "wet agged" in the bag already for like a week before you buy it lol)

can littereally buy this pack of quarters for 25-30 cents per pound. meat is cheaper here per pound than most produce/veggies coz people are too lazy to eat certian parts.

feel like im explaining grocery shopping to a 5 year old. you wanna get obsessive you can stack a 5% cash back grocery credit card like the AAA one as well. its straight up not worth the opprotunity cost for some poor people to go to the food bank here
>>
>>517637279
I bet you had to look hard for this, nobody really wants your chlorine chicken anyway.
Sorry you wasted your time writing half a page of Cope.
>>
>>517637115
They don't compete so closely with each other like they do in the UK. In those countries you have one dominant company (maybe differs region to region) and then a bunch of smaller companies that serve their own niches. In the UK there's four major supermarkets all about the same size fighting for the same market share plus aldi+lidl and they're all forced to stay competitive
>>
>>517637540
lol youre just repeating some junk you saw on tick tock.
why dont you look into the bacteria phages/virus' they pump into dairy to boost the expiration date. people now days have no idea why sour cream doesnt mold the same week its made and pretend like thats normal.

worrying about chlorine chicken and spike protine shedding is kinda low iq when you really should be worrying about food additives no one realizes is there in the first place.

heres another red pill, microplastics in the environment are actually a modern problem that is generated by waste water treatment plants, and they are changing the microbiome of environments/peoples gun. they really only exist in urban settings with waste water treatment plants representing a point source of all micro plastics. that island of garbage in the ocean actually has nothing to do with microplastics and they are highly concentrated in their distribution. pretty sure all your water in the uk is sent to one of those plants so it doesnt caues random duck weed blooms in ur canals lol

yep chickens not that expensive.
>>
>>517637726
No not really.
Aldi and Lidl are pretty much at the same price point, further up will be Asda and Tesco, then maybe Morrisons and Co-op.
Some of these do occasionally run a price-match on certain lines but they don't as a rule compete with each other, they have their own markets.
Our lower food prices is not due to supermarket competition at all.

its okay, i get that one of your biggest darkest fears is abandonment. showing up to a party and being the first one there. being super excited about a friendship/relationship and then getting the cold shoulder for no reason.

sometimes you spend too much money on dumb stuff and get into these weird moods where you are anxious about stuff in your life like foof. its a viscous cycle, and the only way to break it is to get off line.... at least the echo chambers with all the crazies/mentially derranged. get off reddit and twitter first. 4chan is so out there that its prety easy to see how its all saterical/ironic/people and bots being deceptive.

we all struggle with our identity from time to time. not having something that defines us to others can be pretty tough. can keep you up at night not knowing who you are or who other people think you are. its really not helpful to sandbox different identities online on like reddit/4chan. that always only ends up one way, which im affraid is having ur dick chopped off and wearing adult diapers + thinking you need a weelchair/set of crutches for "degenerative arthritis" or something funny.

your actually a super common type of patient ive started to see the last few years. hell this whole website is full of people just like you who will never admit to any of these feelings.

this is infact rather expencive also op is lieing

chicken

£15
chkn Kiev £2
chipolat £2
steak £5
beef £4

random rice £6
cheese £4

it is possible but unlikely this is £45

that is still expensive

also OP is eating brown wrap's (insane person)
useing plastic bottle "real" mayanose (insane person)

has microwaveable rice instead of actual rice (insane person)

zero vegetables (insane person)

and many many other issues

not only is this "bad" objectively he can get better quality food for less cost and more

it is also expensive even if we ignore the bullshit

10 years ago that £15 worth of chiken was closer to £7

It’s gone up here dramatically but it is still far cheaper than anywhere on the continent, aside from poverty Europe. I lived in the US during the Bush years and everything was cheaper there. Went back to the US last year for a visit and the only thing still cheaper is fuel and cigarettes (I don’t smoke but bought cartons for friends). Food is hideously expensive in America now. I used to send photos of receipts to people in the UK back in 2005/6 because they didn’t believe me. Now instead of being 50-75 percent of the UK cost it is 150-200 percent

Yes Petrol(gas) is far cheaper but that's about it.
Food portions were bigger, I have to admit that but I found that the meat is bland and tasteless and needed the extra ingredients and sauces to make it palatable. They also can't make a cup of tea to save their lives and the poverty was pretty sad.
