> Has anyone read this?
Several times.

Animal farm is also good and shorter and you should start there for beginning to understand the jews.

And then do lord of the flies, and then Brave new world.
In that order to get an understanding of the current order.
Then Read the Prince by Machiavellian.

Then you'll be ready to become a qualified anti semite.
>>
>>517664649
Yea it was pretty cringe, the main character is a gigasimp and deserves everything, banning makeup was based.

At least till you realize it's just copium by Old Machiavelli who was begging for a Peasent revolt cuz he lost his war. Funny shit,

Once you read this read brave new world. Both were written by propagandists for the nwo.
Orwell, I think, regretted writing this and working for the oligarchy and was eventually killed in the hospital.
Imo they are both must reads, but in the end not very good. But still must reads. They're short.
Bertrand Russell is important to, who accused Huxley of stealing from him for Brave New World.
Lots of good books in this genra.

down and out in paris and london & road to wigan pier are far better because they are not fiction
you can actually see real parallels with our world and draw conclusions on our current reality based on real history

I should read the more modern stuff like Brave New World.

more modern? it was written in the 1930s. they do make a good pairing though. different views of things. its not as if they are related in anyway so far as i know but i always like to imagine that 1984 is how things were before they reached the BNW stage. then comes logans run
>>

>>517664649
Yes. Why haven't you?
>>
>>517666108
>but in the end not very good
The values of these two novels are not the stories themselves but the concepts introduced
It's rather ironic that 1984 and BNW were considered two contradicting takes on dystopia, then our reality manages to combine them together
>>
No it sounded woke
>>
>>517664649
Yes and it's good but it's overrated and derivative of a different book that came out in 1920 titled "we", written by a Russian. Because of course it was a Russian, no one can write about dystopian topics better than the Russians.
>>
>>517668751
did you read that? i didn't think it was very good at all.
>>
>>517664649
It is funny how Huxley and Orwell were rivals and always flexing about whose vision of the future is the more accurate one. They both are pretty spot on but I'd say Huxley won. Brave New World is the way more scary reality. People are manipulated into willingly doing all that shit their gubbamints want them to. All the repressions and surveillance is simply the icing on the shit cake.
>>
>>517666686

i think that Huxley was kind of missing the point when he said that a state relying on constant terror and that keeps its people miserable wouldnt persist indefinitely. For a start, orwell doesnt paint a picture where most of the people are unhappy about what the state is doing, but seem to actively support and enjoy it. Neither were the proles nearly so heavily policed and controlled as the party members who actually work for and enable the party to continue its rule. They are the hardy believer types that will soldier on despite the hardships of crap food etc, like so many commies have done over the years, because of their vision for the future, love of BB etc etc.

but personally i dont think it was meant to last forever. Obrien need not be telling the truth about that but merely be attempting to full destroy winstons hold out of hope. I think that the boot on the face and book banning stage is just a necessary part of reaching something more like seen in BNW. first you destroy and break the old world, then you can start building the new.
>>

>>
>>517669263

>>
>>517664649
Yes. It’s funny too because the antagonist is (((Goldstein))) Orwell knew
>>
>>517670432
the irony is so thick you can cut it with a poop knife
down and out is much better, he realizes he's actually scum of the earth, a lumpenprole, but one with middle class sensibilities
>>
>>517666108
Orwell barely survived the Spanish civil war after fighting for the Marxist fraction (cause he was a commie) and getting shot in the throat.
Huxley on the other hand was 100% Tavistok. Brave New World Revisited (non fiction, written 3 years after the novel) is a prophecy that went 80% true in our reality 60 years later.
>>
>>517671364
>written 3 years after the novel
I meant to write 30 years. It's actually 28.
>>
>>517667340
Perhaps modern was the wrong word. What I wanted to indicate is that orwell's dystopia isn't the only type of dystopia and that there are potential elements (e.g. private corporations) that aren't in 1984. I assume Brave New World is was written quite a while after 1984

Brave New World was written in 1931, it's going on a century old by this point.

its a movie. maybe check it out. also definitely check out Jenny Agutters Thighs, you'll know what i mean when you see them. one of those classics. in my pretend chronology it comes after the world of BNW has evolved even more and is on the wane.

Kek I love the Soviet sci-fi, explore it if you didn't already. I recommend "Doomed City" by Strugatsky brothers.
I used to think Strugatsky brothers were shit writers (I didn't like Roadside picnic) but it might be a translation issue.

In the version I first read he was most intrigued by her 'thick negroid lips'. I like 1984 and Brave new world. For anons looking for more like this Fahrenheit 451 and We age good. 1984 and We have quite a few similarities though Orwell claimed never to have read We.
>>
>>517673125
I mean, it's not Dostoievsky but English translations at least are utter shit
you're a serb, you should be able to read it in Russian with not much effort
"Beetle in the Anthill" and its sequel "The Waves Extinguish the Wind" are pretty good too
>>
>>517664649
yeah, a few times

orwells lack of writing actually works here and makes winston sound kind of an autist and it totally makes sense in a world where any outward burst of emotion is considered suspicious
>>
>>517673650
>you're a serb, you should be able to read it in Russian with not much effort
That's not the case at all. Slavs diverged 1500 years ago and I assume we were never all the same in the first place.
Basic sentences in Russian are similiar to Serbian, I did some Duolingo and I play DOTA 2, however you need to actually study the language to be able to speak and read it. I don't think I would have problems doing that, I just don't want to.
>>
>>517673915
understandable
>>
>>517664649
Yeah I've read it.
The main character got the fell for it again reward.
Incsoc glownigger pretended to be a secret rebel to catch actual suspected rebels.
Also the main character fucked a whore.
Overall pretty accurate to what's going on right now.
Actually a combination of both 1984 and Brave New World would be accurate.
>>
>>517669314
>We is very different then 1984
There are similarities tho the state in We is more Brave new world conformity. I thought that Julia and the girl in We were fairly similar characters.
>>517669263
Not read Wigan pier. Homage to Catalonia and Fighting in Spain are pretty good. One of the biggest problems for the commies in Spain was infighting.
>>
>>517674129
commies always form into a circular firing squad
in spain they made sure to fuck over the anarchists before starting serious purges among themselves though

It's probably translation issue. The movie is amazing. And so is Oбитaeмый ocтpoв with it's 5G propaganda transmission towers
>>
>>517674861
>It's probably translation issue.
I found the writing quite vulgar and dry, but I don't know if it was intended since the main character was quite average and not smart himself as far as I remember.

You butthurt belters are annoying. The last time you had a war with Russia was in 1945. There are people on this board from the Balkans whose fathers fought each other that are ten times more normal in mutual interactions than you.

Which honestly invalidates all those IQ statistics you like to throw around. Between Russia and the Balkans is a 75 IQ zone filled with people that contributed zero to humanity.

IMO 1984 is the fear of totalitarianism under communism, while BNW is the fear of totalitarian capture of capitalism.
1984:
>Gestapo like police state enforced over a social engineering that riles up the retarded moralfagging of the people.
>Give them a fake human rights adversary. They'll believe the government.
>They'll accept total surveillance for "safety" and government making decisions for them because of "justice".
Brave New World
>Religion was subverted by fanaticism towards The Product. "My Ford" is now a God, and people are given opium in form of free sex and drugs to keep them from realizing they're manipulated 100% of the time.
>They get free sex and drugs when they want
>They believe in what they consume, just like gamers or people binging subscription services.
>They believe their work is required to have a good life.
I've always viewed the books more as fear-mongering critiques of present-day symptoms when they were written, than genuine worrying about future regimes. The things they critique were already happening respectively in 1931 and 1949, when the americans were touting capitalism and the soviets were touting communism. Both of them were seeking full governmental control with either system.
>>
>>517679891
Everything used to be better and I am only a zoomer, remember how much people were talking in vidya and now nobody chats, I think our stress levels went up so people degraded substantially (other things also contribute perhaps but I think stress and the clown world are the bigger reasons). World peaked in the cold war and early 2000s (discounting cases like Serbia) and now we're in degradation phase.
