Why didn't European powers Christianize the Middle East and North Africa following the collapse of the Caliphate? Spain and Portugal converted their Muslim subjects back to Christendom, so why not the rest of the Muslim world?

You’d have to deep dive more on church history. MENA was already Christian at one point but they practice a more monastic/pacifist type of Christianity. Egypt especially was home to Coptic Christianity and the Coptic language which is very close to Greek. But the Copts had too much pride and broke away from Rome and the Catholic Church early on. This left them defenseless as they didn’t have their own armies they relied solely on Rome for their defense. Around the same time Arabs/Muslims came and had a field day taking over MENA. So a lot of MENA Christian’s dug their own grave and there’s a lot to be learned from this. Then you had the crusades and Catholicism tried to take these lands back and they received no little to no help from their prideful and schismatic brethren.Fast forward and now there’s a bunch of Christians which openly hate on Catholics and the crusades calling them “anti-Christian” as if the better alternative would be to roll over and let the Muslims have their way in Europe so it would look more like the modern day Middle East. And this there is where my issues with a Christianity come up. Catholics were an exception to the Christcuck meme for a while but there’s something eternally true to how much Christian’s want to cuck at anything.
