>there only two options for an education to a lifelong career in America.

>with academic knowledge you can go to a >university/college for four years and learn a specific field of study.

Or

>you can skip that and join the workforce by selecting a trade or craft and get experience by working and getting payed.

>Cons.
The first option will surely enslave you in to debt while not assuring you a job after graduation.

The second will make put you through back breaking labor for low pay the first couple years until you reach high experience with said work and by that time your body and health will be in rough shape.

For me I pick the in between firefighter / emt

I abused Tuition Assistance while active duty, got my undergrad and masters. Got out, used GI bill to pay for law school. No debt for me.

I'm not a plumber but I've done plumbing. You have to sometimes crawl into crawl spaces where all kinds of insects and spiders are. Not good if you're a man child.

Here i can solve your issue real easy

You are young and energetic, you will do anything for money. Therefore trades seem like a good idea. They might be all right, but the real value you can contribute is something else you don't make money as a trade unless you start your own business or begin to hire your own tradesmen perhaps in some bizarro world you develop a fine craft and sell to rich people as some sort of art But in reality, you are just a dumb young kid who thinks they're working hard might be fun. It's not.

You should go to college college allows you to invest in yourself and to acquire and develop a portfolio of achievements. These achievements are your stepping stones into a proper career where you are valued instead of your raw labor sure it's good to have the experience of raw labor. But when you were young enough to have the energy to enjoy that, you are also young enough to be undercut by a monkey from Cambodia by the time you're old enough to do a better job than the monkey you are also old enough to know better than to work for free. The simple solution is sending all the monkeys to Cambodia and keeping them there. Our glorious leaders tell us this is impossible. It's looking like you might have to send the monkeys to Cambodia yourself.

I hated university because it felt like a waste of time and mostly brainwashing shit like being forced to write essays about diversity even for my IT degree as prerequisites so I dropped out.
After that I worked at warehouses for a couple years which made me realize "wow blue collar work fucking sucks".
I then went back and finished my degree and now I have a six figure remote job where I browse 4chan all day.

University is a scam but at the same time its a requirement to live in todays world, without a degree you're a serf.
My great grandpa owned a house, had 5 kids and his wife never had to work. He worked one job as janitor his entire life. That is unthinkable now days, reading it you'd think I was making it up its so unbelievable. The world ended a long time ago and we just didnt notice because we were raised to think this is what normal is. Like how elephants in the zoo think being a slave is whats normal.

unless you are a veteran, youre not going to walk off the street and get hired to be a firefighter with just a certification to your name. especially not in a city with nice benefits like youre imagining.

Nobody is hiring. Blue collar job or white collar job is doesn't matter. You guys are fucked regardless

dont listen to any anons on here.
You guys have to realize anons on here hate the fact that others got degrees and make good money, get a good degree that isnt oversaturated and that makes decent money, but most degrees make good money after that first 1 and 2 years where you are getting to know the job and how it works.
Dont fall for muh compsci or whatever is trending at the moment, look at shit 10 years in the future, compsci right now is where it used to be before the big grifting boom around 15-20 years ago, all these industries stabilize, dont pick on trends, get a decent degree and enjoy the rest of your life without having to murder yourself doing 60 hour work weeks to make 70k a years, instead work 40 and make that more or less after tax.
>>
>>517690848
wow you basically already have the job in the bag. you should take out a car loan
>>
>>517688612
I never went to the military, just went to community college got state help which paid for 80 percent of my tuition and other stuff, lived at my parents, got good grades and transfered with a full ride to a semi decent college, now in my 1st year of actually working. All my friends that were telling me how I was an idiot and going to be in debt forever are still working shitty dead end jobs in my hometown.

I despise you "I have a remote job doing nothing all day and make 200k a year" posters. You bring nothing but lying, gaslighting, and pain to lurkers here. Promptly kill yourself by jumping into a tub of boiling oil so I can eat you, you disgusting vermin.
>>
>>517690869
4chan told me to go into compsci/IT so I could get a remote job doing nothing bit shitposting for 200k a year like everyone here. Bunch of lying psychopaths here. I hope every poster here gets debilitating, painful cancer.
>>
>>517692286
I'm not lying, how much I make now is an important part to my story. I went from a shit life to a decent life entirely because of an otherwise useless piece of paper and I encourage others to do the same.
If others being successful makes you feel bad its because you're a weak pussy and thats exactly why you're not successful.
When I was poor I still had a successful persons mindset that I would do whatever it took to get out of the shit and thats how I did it. Men dont get jealous, thats a woman emotion, a man sees someone better than them as something inspirational.

No, you're lying. No one graduating with an IT degree today can get a remote job making six figs doing nothing. The only ones able to do that are ones that got it through covid, so stop gas lighting people you absolute pathetic sack of shit. You have no idea how it is for people struggling to see that and think they may be able to do it. You got lucky and are bragging, so kill yourself ASAP, scum.
>>
>>517692556
I was around here during those days, there is a reason none of them post that shit nowadays, just go to the traditional degrees that are always needed and get them and get internships and experience while studying don't just study use the universities resources to get good internships, look at post grad hiring rates and wages and just go do it.
>>

I have a 6 fig job with no schooling.
>t. has honorary phd in math

Go to college
>party with sluts, build strong network, come out with a degree that will earn you more money
Go into trades
>deal with drunkards and addicts on the daily, risk death from workplace violations, die early from some form of cancer from what you handle
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I wonder which one I'd choose?
>>
You learned about them from your mother.
