Dude I shit you not, I climbed into an attic 2 years ago where every. Fucking. Duct in the entire attic was pouring, and I mean pouring water from condensation. If you smacked them it would let loose a shower of droplets into the insulation. Their ceilings were destroyed. Some hillbillies from Georgia slapped a 4.5 ton system into a 1,200 sq ft, leaky beach house on the coast. Every duct was too small or too big, they used a massive metal central supply plenum and didn't tape or insulate any of the junctions, so this huge metal tube was also sweating and dripping water. The ducts weren't pulled properly so the insulation would scrunch up and it would sweat that way too.I tore out every fucking bit of that system and redid it, and the fucking thing STILL tried to drip water until I gave it some love and attention. 4 months later, a very stressed out but happy customer. I told him I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I first went up there.

As long as a system is installed properly, it can exist up in a 120 degree attic with no problem whatsoever. In fact, the hotter it is, the better. It's mild days, like 74 degrees + rain that really tax whether a system is installed and designed properly. On a mild day, an oversized + leaky system will turn the house into a swamp cooler. Sickly, humid air. Then it'll sweat condensation everywhere.
