The democrats want to reverse cuts to things like social security and medicaid. But the problem is, this required level of cooperation over the budget is literally their only card to play. The moment a budget gets approved, every democrat in congress goes back to being completely irrelevant until the midterms happen and they MAYBE claw back enough seats to meaningfully oppose Trump in literally any way.The stakes for this are very high for the Democrats, but next week the Republicans still will have all of the rest of the power that the government provides.
