Fasting for more than 48 or 72 hours is not a good idea and doesn't really have that many benefits.The body will preserve most muscle mass for the first two or three days, but after that muscle loss increases a lot.Even if you do have a lot of body fat on you (muh calories), you don't know if you have enough micronutrients stored to survive for as long as the fat will last.A lot of people are overweight but also malnourished (high in macros, low in micros) and can't handle fasting well.Someone who's been in a plant-based diet for most of his life shouldn't fast, even when having a lot of body fat, since they're malnourished.
