what's the point? have to have strangers in and around your house constantly. unless you have a massive family they're pointless.
>>
>>517908342
I think they’re absolutely beautiful. You yanks have no idea how lucky you are to have all that land and resources.
Also, Whites need larger families so these homes are perfect
>>
I knew a family that lived in a big mansion in Shaughnessey in Vancouver. And old fashioned one but huge and Edwardian style. At night they retreated to their upstairs bedroom and locked themselves in fearing to go downstairs. You can't hear what is going on in parts of your house like the entire downstairs if the house is too big. It becomes this big creepy place where crystal meth addicts could have broken in through a kitchen window and you wouldn't know it. Even with a pet Rotweiler it was scary for them. And meth heads would set up their hootches in the bushes in their big garden; the police would refuse to remove them saying: "well they have to have somewhere to live too".

The heating and AC bills were horrendous.
>>
>>517908342
>have to have strangers in and around your house constantly
No, there is a comfy spot where you have a big house with lots of private indoor and outdoor space to do whatever you want with, but not so big that it requires daily upkeep. Here in California everyone with a McMansion seems to hire landscaping companies that hire undocumented, but I'd rather mow the fucking grass myself when I have a house, and leave the leaves alone cause I like them.
>>
>>517908562
Sounds comfy if you just build a security fence with cameras and alarms. The only full time staff I'd want might be security guards, but they'd be in their own detached hut monitoring the outside and the screens.
>>
>>517908530
i have a medium-sized house on 200 acres. it's just fine. my brother has one of these mcmansions and half of it is just empty. my brother has three kids too and it's still too much room for them.
>>
>>517908769
>but I'd rather mow the fucking grass myself when I have a house,
At this point you can just get 500$ robomowers.
>>
>>517909057
where can i get 200 acres and a mcmansion
>>
>>517908530

wait until it takes you 5 fucking minutes to walk to the kitchen, they might look beautiful but as a wealthy person mansions fucking suck, mcmansion or not, just give me the standard ranch house on big piece of land.
>>
>>517908946
White people in America are willing to spend trillions on taxes, prisons, border security, and gated communities. They know the darkness waiting to tear apart their cuck bodies limb by limb. The survival of the beta hinges on correctly spotting and avoiding the alpha.
>>
Most of what are described as "mcmansions" are not the absurdly large residences in OP's pic but rather just slightly larger than average, maybe somewhat gaudy suburban homes
>>
>>517909253
>not zipping around on an electric scooter
How can you be rich when you're so dumb?
>>
>>517908342
That's an actual mansion. A mcmansion is a much smaller version of that pic, like 2-4000 square feet with similar architecture. They are a bitch to heat since they typically have vaulted ceilings.
>>
>>517909253
This. Not to mention you have to pay somebody to clean the fucking thing unless you want to spend every Sunday cleaning the house
>>
It's not the floor area square footage that drives you crazy, it's the height of the rooms. If the ceiling is low enough, you feel perfectly relaxed no matter how many empty rooms you're surrounded by. But as soon as the ceilings get to a certain height, it triggers a primal, irrational fear. One of the easiest ways to make a house look bigger, and thus sell for more, is to raise the ceilings. McMansions usually have very high ceilings. That's why they're so uncomfortable, even if you have a large family to occupy it.
>>
>>517909176
50+ miles outside of any city.
Which you already should be anyway unless your skin looks like poop
>>
>>517908530
They're trash anon. All the sockets are wonky, the tiling is subtly squint, the walls echo when you tap them... they're dogshit with gold leaf applied.
>>
>>517909491
That's not an actual mansion, that building won't exist in 40 years. It's just a slightly larger than usual McMansion.
>>
>>517911129

I've been in actual mansions and the in-laws live in something very similar to OP, they're not even remotely similar. OP is just a scaled-up stucco box and it'll fall apart just as fast and be cheaper to replace than repair.
>>
>>517908342
That's not actually a McMansion. It's just a regular mansion, but in the post-millennial taste preference.
>>

This is what an actual McMansion looks like. It looks like a cheaply built larger 4-5 bedroom except it has like 8 bedrooms, 3 living rooms but is the same shitty thing.
Built on lots of land in formerly semi-rural areas within 1 hour of some city. That land has all been developed by now.

Since 2015 they now built shittier McMansions that use a fake Arts&Crafts style to pretend to not be McMansions but the building quality and amenities are worse.
>>
I can't fit my desk, bed, computer chair, recliner and TV in my room and it sucks.
>>
>>517913459
>Yeah these are just new build mansions.
if you build a new mansion it's going to be contractors trying to cut corners every step of the way. you will literally have to be on site every day to make sure they're not doing something fucked up.
>>
>>517913614
You have to build a proper steel frame enterprise level, or some boutique custom where you hire your own team of engineers as if they're building the next Guggenheim.
>>
>>517908342
expensive as fuck to heat and cool and maintain
always worried about security too
>>
>>517908342
I had a best friend in high school whose parents came into money and they built a huge and ugly mansion. The bedrooms for the kids were no bigger than my room in my 70’s ranch-style home. It was filled with wasted space. Unused rooms. Large areas to walk through that served no purpose. Seemingly random tiny sitting rooms. It was the most dysfunctional home I have ever seen. They filled it with junk, junk, and more junk. The place was always dirty, too. Clutter and dust. They never could find reliable help to do housecleaning. It was so weird.
>>
>>517913482
Oh fuck no they're money sinks, but if you have the cash more power to you and at least it's a solid investment if not a great one and stewardship of heritage.

>>517913553
Yeah that's exactly what's under the slightly upgraded cladding on the OP too. It's fucking dogshit in gold leaf. That's not real brick, that's not a real sarked slate roof.
>>
>>517913680
>You have to build a proper steel frame enterprise level, or some boutique custom where you hire your own team of engineers as if they're building the next Guggenheim.
you're not going to get that where i'm at. we have builders that are building mansions along the lakes and the #1 thing i see is that they don't seal shit up right away. and they work so slow because the owners live hundreds of miles away and aren't holding anyone accountable.
>>

Mansion
>>
>>517914058
The defining McMansion attribute is the clashing and incoherent architecture thrown together by some tasteless contractor and his merry band of beaners. This is definitely a McMansion.
>>
>>517913887
They tend to be built in high land value suburbs from pre-1950s with smaller, less luxurious homes built when it was a regular suburb. They love knocking them down to build these Art&Crafts monstrosities.
>>
>>517914315
It's actually fairly architecturally coherent, though not good.
I provided a good example of a McMansion:
>>517913553
>>
>>517909057
Why would you even need 200 acres? You a farmer?
>>
>>517914058
It's a Five Guys Burger and Mansion at best. All the money went on external shit that's going to fall off and toys.
>>
>>517914058
It's giagantic and the garage still manages to be half the face. lmao
>>
>>517908342
I'd live in this thing all by myself, let it overgrow with spider webs and other spookies and absolutely enjoy every second of it
>>
>>517908562
>The heating and AC bills were horrendous.
I think that's also a testament to how poorly they're built as well. They hardly have any insulation in many of them so the cheap big house has enormous upkeep costs because it was built to "not my problem" standards.

I want to raise a family in a cozy little bungalow in a safe little all-white suburb like I grew up in, where you can always hear everyone else in the house walking around and talking and you have to spend lots of time in the same rooms together as a family and you can carry on a conversation from across the house. It’s comfy and nice to feel like your family is always around you esp as a kid.

My buddy lives in a big McMansion with his wife and kids and he can go most of the day without seeing or hearing them and vice-versa. That seems cold and sad to me. It’s hard to find a girl who wants a simple life these days though. If you don’t offer them a McMansion then you seem like a brokie.

I liked when we had to move our furniture to fit the little $5 charlie brown christmas tree my Dad would haggle the xmas tree dealer guy for, it was a big deal having to turn the couch and stuff so we could put the tree up and then its lights would light up the whole room at night and the whole month felt like magic watching xmas specials on TV in front of the tree with my family all around me. It feels like families don’t even want to be around each other anymore.

>>
>>517915415
People can do that in a big house, too. Your family culture starts with the parents setting expectations and then making everyone conform to those.
>>
You dont actually need much in this life its all capitalist status brainwashing. Many rockstars would buy big homes and just hunker down in one room. Even if many of you had the big house youd just be on your computer anyway.
>>
>>517916241

They can but they don’t, because the large rooms push against it. That’s like saying women could just NOT be sluts, sure they could but everything around them is encouraging them to behave that way so they’ll eventually succumb to it

A small house forces you to exist in the same space as your family, even when you aren’t getting along. That’s important. Part of why society is fucked is no one is forced to develop any sort of bonding anymore. You’re upset? Go to the den on the 2nd floor where you can be alone all day. Don’t even have family dinner at the dinner table
>>
>>517916487
The main problem is the lack of symmetry. It's like somebody vomited a house. It's a mess. There should be order to it, at least in the front face. And there would have to be some kind of deliberate beauty in the design. Not a random mismash of different shapes and slightly different colors. Build it with good ratios.

OP is trying to look like a manor house. Here's a fairly bog standard example.
You see the "towers" and turrets and all that shit on the McManor? You get that when the building grows over 500 years or so from a fortified tower house. You don't fucking build it like that from scratch.

>Spartan mindset
I’m being 100% sincere, if seeing someone have ornate mahogany furniture is enough to make you envy the rich, what you have isn’t satisfying you.

And I mean this in the way that when I see something nice, I’ll budget to incorporate them piece by piece for the ornate picture.
When I see people with good fortunes, I’m happy they patronized modern artisans and are custodians to the grandiose of the past, but I just don’t think anything other than admiration for a beautiful place. It isn’t mine, I can’t do anything with their items, so I feel nothing towards it.
Usually every bitterness is systemic and tantamount to blaming taxes, bills, and property values. For example LA and Houston have the same economy and income, but the Blood Red state of Texas, Houston costs less than half of what an LA house does, which means it’s SYSTEMIC TO BLUE CALIFORNIA - in part.

Its all fake as well. Its not actually made from stone. In terms of point, its due to ego and possibly resell value. Think about it. Who buys homes like this? The same sorts of people that are selling them. So maybe that is what they want. They don't need it, they want it, they want to project it.

If I ever win the lottery, I'm building smaller, high end. Maybe 3-4 bedrooms, guest annex. Keep it simple, reception, living room, kitchen / dining, gym. Might have ballistic windows and doors so niggers and eastern europeans can't break in.

If someone wants to live in a McMansion, that's their business, not your's. And inside that house was some family creating memories.

“whenever some blowhard starts talking about the anonymity of the suburbs or the mindlessness of the tv generation. Because we know that inside each one of those identical boxes, with it's Dodge parked out front and it's white bread on the table and it's tv set glowing blue in the falling dusk, there were people with stories. There were families bound together in the pain and the struggle of love. There were moments that made us cry with laughter. And there were moments, like that one, of sorrow and wonder.”

cardboard house. I'd rather be poor and have class, have God knowing I have riches I deserve to have in heaven.

Just sounded a little resentful. All the places that don’t look like giant boxes and favelas required masons, terracotta workers, stone quarries to build, and they needed money to live.

If anything, modern tech billionaires, and modern money doesn’t know how to spend tastefully, and modern government systems like tax code and cramming 100 products into every floor won’t let them splurge on taste.

i had a buddy that had a 21,000 sqft home, his dad worked for microsoft, unironically. his house was pretty cool. but when you just hang out in a mansion and chill you start realizing that wealthy people just live similar lives except with long hallways and really big rooms. i think 5000sq feet is pretty big already. anything bigger than that is just extra big rooms and long hallways.

You also have to fill those rooms with stuff you’ll never touch. In our little house growing up we used every single bowl and cup at some point for something or has a story behind it. My rich buddy with a mcmansion has giant kitchen cabinets that go up to the high roof that his wife filled with a million mugs with little sayings on them from some generic online store collection. They will never ever even TOUCH anything above the 2nd shelf. But if she didn’t fill it up it would look weird

Any cup I take from the cupboard when I visit home, I can tell you the whole backstory to where it came from and who in our family picked it out and uses it the most and why we have it etc

couch's are only so big, tv's are only so big. toilets are only so big, stoves are only so big. i personally wouldnt mind living in a mcmansion if i could justify the space. but mansions are fucking enormous.
elevator, 3 different staircases, a basement that no one ever uses. indoor pool, tennis court, guest rooms, ect. they would have a maid come and clean and do laundry and shit. but it really is just a big fucking house. you are not missing much.
my sister has a mcmansion right now for about 5 years and she is just learning how fucking expensive it is to run the utilities. unless you make 1 mill per year, its almost not worth it for a mcmansion. let alone a real mansion.
>>
>>517908342
They're exessive and poorly built but a house with a few extra rooms beyond bedrooms, baths, kitcken, living room, dining room, and laundry, is great. Space for a something like a hobby workshop, home gym, home theater, art studio, library, little greenhouse if there's a sunroom and the light for it, sewing room if you're old fashioned, just plain old storage, music room, home office for you and/or your wife, oversized pantry, home bar, or any number of things. Not all of them of course but having the proper space for a thing or two you care about or are good for you in your own home in fantastic.

These things are made with low quality materials and illegal spic construction. Old people quite literally get killed in these places because they are huge and difficult to maintain. Billy and Betty Boomer croak after falling down the steps and get eaten by the housepets until someone finds them. They are a testament to boomer hubris and greed that becomes an overpriced tomb. Then they rot because the shoddy materials and lack of maintenance turns them into unlivable dumps that are too expensive to fix. Rinse and repeat until you call it a "housing shortage."
