IT'S HAPPENING

A member of Estonia's volunteer Defense League has been jailed for four years and 11 months after passing information about Defense Forces exercises and the border city of Narva to Russia's FSB.
The Viru County Court, in a plea agreement procedure, found Estonian citizen Ivan Dmitrijev guilty of conducting and supporting intelligence activities directed against the Republic of Estonia, a statement from the Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday afternoon said.
The court sentenced Dmitrijev to four years and eleven months of actual imprisonment.
According to the charges, from March to May 2025, Dmitrijev collaborated with FSB Border Service operations officer Aleksandr Bobkov and passed information to the agency for approximately two months.
Among other things, the FSB was interested in information about members of the EDL and local life in the border city of Narva, where a large number of Russian speakers live. The information included details about the political situation, the Narva Castle Museum, and the presence of Estonian military personnel in the city.

On the night of October 6, Ukrainian drones struck occupied Feodosia. The target was one of the largest oil depots in Crimea — the Feodosia oil transshipment terminal, where fuel tanks caught fire. The blaze could be seen for tens of kilometers. Local residents shared footage of the aftermath online.

In the Lyman direction, a pilot from the SIGNUM battalion eliminated a Russian motorcyclist and a quad bike along with the occupant.

A drone footage captures a forested area at sunrise, with the sun casting an orange glow through bare trees. A motorcyclist from the SIGNUM battalion rides along a dirt path, visible in military gear. The video shows the drone targeting and eliminating a Russian motorcyclist and a quad bike with its occupant, resulting in visible destruction on the path. Text overlays display "SIGNUM" and other identifiers, along with coordinates and timestamps. Emblems of the SIGNUM battalion and another organization appear in the top corners, with a watermark from a news source in the bottom corner.

"Putin attacked Ukraine because of the actions of Poland, the Baltic states, and the COVID-19 pandemic." - said former German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

She stated that Poland’s refusal to support the Minsk agreements pushed Putin toward invasion, and that the quarantine prevented EU leaders from negotiating with him in person.

The Financial Times writes that EU member state governments have agreed to restrict the travel of Russian diplomats within the bloc in response to a surge in sabotage attempts, which, according to intelligence reports, are often carried out by spies working under diplomatic cover.

The new rules will require Russian diplomats stationed in EU capitals to inform the governments of other countries about their travel plans before crossing the border of their host country.

Medvedev has shared his very "expert opinion" about drones over Europe, and naturally, everyone is to blame again: "Banderites, secret services, hooligans, and perhaps the aliens themselves."

All versions are equally valid, because for the Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, when imagination knows no bounds — logic isn’t needed. Sobriety, apparently, isn’t either.

Russia’s nuclear test site in the Arctic has begun tightening security over fears of "drone deliveries," similar to those seen during Operation "Pavutyna."

According to Google Earth data, researchers from The Barents Observer spotted signs of anti-drone preparations on satellite images of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago in the Arkhangelsk region.

Militarnyi reports that Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has unveiled a new, previously unknown version of the Neptune cruise missile. The new modification is distinguished by visual features — notably two lateral bulges. Their exact purpose has not been disclosed.

"Demonstrated ready-made solutions that strike the enemy at the front and in the rear. Our manufacturers presented their own products that could already be produced tomorrow in partner countries under the Build with Ukraine program." - said Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, Shmyhal.

I am slightly convinced that the Ukrainian army command is playing some 5D mind games against their Russian counterparts by playing into their ego of appearances.

1. Hype up some tame point on the map as some strategically important and a showcase of Ukrainian supremacy
2. Russian high command gets baited into trying to seize this point at any cost, another shiny badge for the general who does so
3. Strategic retreat by the Ukrainians in face of superior numbers on the Russian side, while they rush for glory into the meatgrinder
4.The Russians capture the piece of land, but there is no recognizable victory in it, since Ukraine has gone back to step 1 to lay the trap again.

Not to discredit the Ukrainians, but it probably does not take much to fool the Russians into making a mistake. The Ukrainians definitely have shifted into a sustained retreat defense. They hold a position as long as they can while minimizing casualties on their side, and once Russia is set to overrun they pull everyone back. No last stands, no throwing away entire battalions like they did in the first year and a half of the war. I think it's because Ukraine was operating on the same doctrine Russia is, which is old Soviet-era military doctrine, but since 2023 their commanders have received a LOT of training from NATO and are now using a modified NATO playbook, probably with Ukraine's own officers having a big part in designing it because this isn't the kind of war NATO usually fights. Plus Ukraine lacks a lot of NATO's go-to resources and can't rely on air superiority to carry the day.

Brothers. I’m writing to you from Yunakovka, please publicize what is happening here, otherwise we will all remain here.
We have been without water for 8 days, all roads are cut off, when it rained we managed to collect rainwater. There is almost no supply, no one wants to walk the paths where everything is flying!
The command is located 20 km from the front and doesn’t really care about the personnel, there is no evacuation of the wounded, all the dead are our guys, no one cares. Soon the leaves will fall and we will all remain here and no bodies will be found.
I have been fighting since ’22, but I have never seen such crap, such total neglect!
The command is staffed by officers who just graduated from the institute, with no combat experience. They are given companies to command because, damn it, that’s how it’s supposed to be on paper, the guys with combat experience sit and can’t do anything, and if you say something, you know what happens to those who are inconvenient.
People have been sitting for a year without leave! In short, guys, please respond, Yunakovka may soon become a mass grave, we are ready to leave it with such treatment.

That notion is true, however suffering does not elevate you, that's a misconception, suffering only elevates your mind if you do it with "mindfulness". Granted this is as universal concept (present in every religion), but for "some" reason really catched on in Russia.
But primitivness of people who say it aside, monks in Asia do retardedly long retreats with hard physical ordeals like exercise, long days without food and water and going into very cold water and try to experience it mindfully.

Gold Surges Past $4,000 for First Time on Global Turmoil, Fed Bets

1/2

Gold futures breached $4,000 an ounce for the first time ever on Tuesday, as a perfect storm of political instability and expectations of looser U.S. monetary policy sent investors rushing to the traditional safe haven.
The December-delivery contract on the Comex in New York touched a record $4,005.80 before paring gains. The precious metal has climbed more than 50% so far this year, fueled by a cocktail of anxieties gripping global markets.
Driving the rally is a U.S. government shutdown, now entering its second week, with no clear resolution in sight as Congress remains deadlocked over spending legislation. The shutdown has compounded economic uncertainty and delayed key economic data, increasing speculation that the Federal Reserve will be forced to cut interest rates at its upcoming meeting on October 28-29 to support the economy.
"Ongoing safe-haven flows stemming in part from the government shutdown and no real indication that it is likely to be resolved in the immediate term" are a key factor, said Peter Grant, a senior metals strategist at Zaner Metals.
Adding to investor jitters are political crises in two other major economies. In France, President Emmanuel Macron is facing mounting pressure to resign after his newly appointed prime minister, Sébastien Lecornu, stepped down after just 27 days, plunging the government into chaos. Meanwhile, Japan is navigating a leadership transition after Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba announced his resignation in September following historic election defeats, leaving the world's fourth-largest economy in a state of political uncertainty.

The flight to safety is underpinned by relentless demand from central banks, particularly in emerging markets, which continue to diversify their reserves away from the U.S. dollar. After purchasing over 1,000 tonnes annually for several years, central banks are expected to remain robust buyers through 2025. The People's Bank of China has been a notable buyer, increasing its holdings as relations with Washington have soured. This institutional demand provides a strong floor for the market, insulating it from short-term pullbacks.

Russia hits rail and power facilities in Poltava and Sumy in large-scale drone attack

1/2

Russian forces launched a massive overnight drone and missile attack on Ukraine, targeting critical railway and energy infrastructure in the Poltava and Sumy regions and striking the city of Kharkiv, according to Ukrainian officials.
Ukraine’s air force command said that Russia launched a barrage of 152 drones and two ballistic missiles across the country. Air defence systems reportedly downed more than 80 of the drones.
In the central city of Poltava, a major railway hub was struck, according to Oleksiy Kuleba, Ukraine's minister for infrastructure. A locomotive depot and traction substations were hit, damaging administrative buildings, warehouses, and rolling stock. The attack caused significant disruptions, temporarily delaying long-distance trains, including the key Kharkiv-Lviv and Kramatorsk-Lviv services. Railway traffic has since been restored, though some local commuter trains are running with backup diesel locomotives. More than a thousand households in and around Poltava were left without electricity following the strikes.
In Sumy, a city in the country's northeast, Russian drones targeted energy infrastructure, causing partial blackouts. Officials reported damage to a civilian infrastructure facility in the Zarichnyi district of the city and also to the residential sector, but said there were no casualties.
The eastern city of Kharkiv, which has been under relentless attack for months, also came under fire. Explosions were reported in the Nemyshlianskyi and Industrialnyi districts, causing a fire to break out at a civilian enterprise.

The Ukrainian energy minister, Svitlana Grynchuk, stated that over the past day, Russia had carried out more than 26 attacks on energy facilities across seven regions, including Poltava, Sumy, and Kharkiv. The strikes are seen as part of a renewed Russian campaign to cripple Ukraine's energy grid ahead of the winter heating season.

EU Agrees to Restrict Russian Diplomats' Travel Amid Espionage Concerns

European Union member states have agreed to impose new travel restrictions on Russian diplomats across the bloc in response to growing concerns over espionage and sabotage, according to officials familiar with the matter. The move is intended to curb the activities of Russian intelligence agents operating under diplomatic cover.
Under the new rules, which are set to be part of the EU's 19th sanctions package against Moscow, Russian diplomats and their family members will be required to notify their host country's authorities of any planned travel to other member states. The notification must be provided at least 24 hours in advance and specify the means of transport and points of entry and exit, giving the host state the option to approve or deny the passage.
The measure, long advocated by the Czech Republic and a coalition of at least seven other member states, targets what one senior EU diplomat described as agents who "are posted to one place – but work in another." European intelligence agencies have warned that Russia has increased sabotage operations, including arson, cyberattacks, and drone intrusions, with operatives often using the EU's Schengen free-movement zone to cross borders untracked.
"There is no 'Schengen for Russia'," Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský stated, emphasizing the need for stricter reciprocity.

The final adoption of the sanctions package, which requires unanimous consent, could be delayed. Austria is reportedly seeking to include a provision to unfreeze assets related to the construction firm Strabag, a move that at least 10 other member states have said they would reject. Hungary, which had previously opposed the diplomat travel restrictions, has reportedly dropped its veto.

Constitutional Amendments in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia): Centralization of Power and Reduction of Social Guarantees

1/2

A legislative initiative proposed by Aisen Nikolayev, the Head of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), seeks to introduce significant amendments to the republic's constitution, fundamentally altering provisions related to education and local self-government. The proposed changes, which have been approved by the region's Constitutional Commission and are scheduled for public hearings in the state assembly (Il Tumen) on October 10, signal a clear trajectory toward the centralization of executive power and the erosion of municipal autonomy and citizen entitlements.
The amendments target key social guarantees, most notably in the education sector. The proposed text removes the constitutional guarantee of free secondary vocational education and rescinds the mandate for parents to ensure their children complete a full secondary education (grades 10-11), making only primary general education (grades 5-9) compulsory.
Of parallel significance are the revisions to the framework of local governance. The existing definition of "local self-government" is set to be replaced with the ambiguous term "forms of self-organization," explicitly constrained by the "scope of powers provided for by legislation." This redefinition is accompanied by the removal of references to "elected officials" in the mechanisms of local governance. Concurrently, the amendments strip municipalities of their authority to independently manage finances, own property, and initiate local referendums. Critics, including local journalist Vitaly Obedin, interpret these changes as a prelude to the complete abolition of direct mayoral elections, a process already underway in the capital city of Yakutsk.

>Russians quadrupled loans at rates of 150% per annum and higher

>In the third quarter of the year, the volume of microloans issued almost quadrupled compared to the same period in 2024. The average loan amount increased by 32% and amounted to 21.2 thousand rubles, follows from the data of the financial marketplace “Sravni”, which Gazeta.Ru reviewed. The maximum online loan amount reached 100 thousand rubles, and the average term was 71 days.

>According to the Central Bank, in the second quarter of 2025, microfinance organizations issued loans worth 533 billion rubles. Two thirds of transactions fall on consumer microloans without providing with different deadlines. Bet on them vary from 59.3% per annum for loans over 100 thousand rubles. For a period of more than a year up to 288.1% per annum for loans up to 30 thousand rubles. for a period of up to 30 days. The structure of loans to individuals was dominated by loans with an interest rate of about 150% per annum - they are especially in demand among clients of marketplaces, the Central Bank noted. The most expensive loans at 288.1% occupy a share of 19.3%.

>The Central Bank notes that the availability of microloans is supported by a high level of digitalization: almost all loans to individuals are provided remotely. The average check also continues to grow: in the second quarter, it amounted to 29.5 thousand rubles. in the segment of medium -term loans and 10.4 thousand rubles. In the segment "before the salary". The head of the MFI development department in “Compare” Ivan Shcherbinin explains the increase in demand by combining accessibility and pressure on family budgets: “The greatest demand falls on short -term microloans to cover current needs, most often up to 30 thousand rubles. The slowdown of income growth also enhances the popularity of such products, ”the expert emphasized.

Gotta borrow more money from bank for bread.

Furthermore, the reform package aims to expand the powers of the Head of the Republic. Nikolayev would be granted the authority to sell precious metals and gems from the State Depository, a power previously limited to their preservation. The amendments also remove the requirement for the head of the republic to engage with public associations. Proponents of the amendments, including government officials, frame them as a necessary step to align the regional constitution with federal legislation aimed at creating a unified system of public authority. However, detractors argue the changes are an "overtly anti-people draft document aimed at centralization and strengthening the personal power of the head of Yakutia."

While they're indeed losing ground every day this war has been going on for 4 years while it shouldn't have. Russians didn't even expect them to resist much.

>Muslim couriers were allowed to work according to Sharia law

>The Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia has issued a special fatwa, which for the first time regulates the work of couriers and logistics service employees in accordance with Shariah norms. According to the religious-legal opinion, published on the organization’s website, all transported goods are divided into “halal” and “haram”.

>The document approved by the Ulemov Council on September 24, 2025 contains a detailed list of goods prohibited for transportation for Muslims. The list of "haram" cargo includes alcoholic beverages, gambling, items of the "pagan cult", pork and animal meat clogged in violation of Sharia rules. The exception was made only for cases of delivery of such goods for the purpose of disposal.

>This is not the first. In December 2024, the Council of Ulema published a religious opinion allowing Muslims to enter into up to four “religious marriages,” which is contrary to the Russian Family Code. However, the document was soon withdrawn after a corresponding submission from the Prosecutor General’s Office to the Chairman of the Russian Muslim Spiritual Directorate, Ravil Gainutdin. In July 2024, it became known about the emergence of “Sharia patrols” in Russia, whose participants found citizens on the streets whose behavior, in their opinion, did not meet religious norms, and applied physical violence to them - beaten with sticks.

>According to the FSO for July 2025, Every fourth labor migrant in Russia (24%) is ready to participate in protests for the right to live according to Sharia, 15.3% are ready to join “illegal political shares”, and 43.5%prefer Islamic law to secular law.

>How are some of these even called battles
The pre-war population of a place doesn't correlate well with how significant a battle that takes place at that location is. In fact, many significant battles throughout history have taken place at locations that were even completely uninhbaited.

Look at the battle of El Alamein, which at the time was a town of only 2k. The battle didn't even take place literally there, but some distance away from it, but it was the closest inhabited town to the battle. It actually took place in uninhabited desert. So do you think that battle was insignificant? Well, it was the turning point for the North African campaign. Perhaps for WW2 on the whole. So why does your retarded ass think the battle didn't matter since a nearby town had a small population? Idiot.

Everyone serious about it knows it won't be settled until Spring 2026.

Ukraine claims they control a lot of places they actually don't. They claim they still hold a foothold in the Kursk oblast even. They do this for purely political reasons to keep up morale. But these claims are not grounded in reality and you're foolish if you take them seriously. I don't think Ukraine every formerly admitted they lost the battle of Mariupol. They claimed the mission was "completed successfully". Picrel.
