By now, it should be blatantly obvious that the left doesn't want Palestine to be "solved." Why? Because, whether the left will admit it or not, the conflict has use-value to them.The left puts so much stake in Palestine for one very simple reason: Palestine is the sole global conflict whereby 99% of the left can agree on who is the victim and who is the villain. When it comes to other global conflicts such as Ukraine vs. Russia, Congo, Kurdistan, Kashmir, Tibet, Sudan, Ethiopian vs. Somalia, Armenia vs. Azerbaijan, or even the issue of Blacks in the US, the left is completely divided. Palestine is exceptional because it unites the left, hence why the left so rabidly prioritizes it, even above domestic issues in their own countries. Why? Because it's the only thing that makes the left "the left".The fatal flaw of the Palestine movement is that no one can coherently define what a "victory" means for Palestine and how western activists can go about achieving that victory. Does it mean something as simple as stopping the current Gaza bloodbath? Or does a "victory" mean a two-state solution in the '67 border like the vast majority of the world supports? Or does it mean a one-state solution with a secular and democratic system? Or, does it mean a full-blown apocalyptic decolonization scenario whereby the Palestinians manage to seize back all their lands from 1948 and remove every single Jew from between the river and the sea? Obviously, the last one is a complete and utter fantasy, but talk to many pro-Palestine activists and they will insist they will accept nothing less. So where does that leave us? What do we need to do in order to accomplish that goal? How do western activists ensure 7 million Israeli Jews leave historic Palestine for good? We can't. And that's the thing – leftists don't want Palestine to "win" because the longer this conflict continues the more use value it has to the left.

How can we be sure Israel isn't going to start the war again as soon as they get the hostages back? They have shown they can't be trusted. It will just further degrade their reputation though that's the only positive.
