why was gene selfish? im pretty sure the elements, atoms ,cells all collaborate to make all this "life" thing happen
>>
>>518722683
lol no that is definitely something by Euclid, Newtons Principia, or Darwin or Mendels book

youre a dumbass
that book prolly doesnt make it to the top 100 most influential science books

I liked all the biological stuff but skipped any religious stuff, I don't really care if he is atheist. I feel it did make me less ignorant, I think the book is good for people interested in science but are just the average guy. It also made me sort of compare humans to cattle fairly often like how farmers will breed the biggest animals to get the most meat, people will do that when selecting partners.

I like shellfish , especially crab

The sole purpose of life is gene replication. Life is a war where genes are competing against one another to be the ones who replicate. Nothing else not even you as an individual matters.

it is tongue in cheek about the world view that people associate with Darwinism being egotistical and a mean idea compared to altruistic teachings and religious fantasy utopias. But he actively shows that the entire concept of working together and social animals are more successful in the long run, HOWEVER, if you don't fuck, you are fucked. Procreation is the sole purpose of life. A gene has to "be selfish", ie make sure it manages to be part of the 50% of genes you pass on, to be successful in its life. 90% of the book explains this mechanism with worker bees who feel obligated to help the queen because they are more related to her than to each other or the drones. their genes are "selfish" in enacting a policy that makes sure their copies survive

>>
>everyone's a sociopath: the book
I already know this. Some races have more sociopaths than others.

how does /pol/ cope with the fact than an atheist invented memes?

>The word meme itself is a neologism coined by Richard Dawkins, originating from his 1976 book The Selfish Gene.[14]
>>
>>518728440
if this is taught in italian high schools, your country did everything right. But seeing adult italians, i know this isn't the case
>>
>>518729411
dude... that's irish flag...
>>
>>518729411
Race mixing causes poorer colour vision. Its why Americans have such a hard time distinguishing European flags.
>>
>post-Hegel materialist hodgepodge
Hard pass.
>>
>>518728895
he didn't invent memes he coined the phrase
>>

>Procreation is the sole purpose of life
