Honestly pilots are the most overpaid profession in the world. They make $600k a year and 99% of their job is just sitting in a chair doing literally nothing. And the 1% of the time they're actually doing something it's just completely routine work where they repeat the same exact motions in the same exact order every single time. If there's any job that deserves to be automated by machines it's airline pilots.

Median is about 120k for commercial pilots. Maybe the senior airliner captains make 600k but most will never make it to there.

Yea, press the white buttons to make sure they are no longer white.

Doesn't the captain have to turn off the fasten seatbelt sign? No machine could automate that.

Honestly, the aircraft operation bit is the easy part thanks to all the automation. The hard part is all the ATC shit you have to do, on top of flight planning. That's the part that normies would shit their pants at and it's where all the hand holding in movies is at. And yes it gets repetitive after a while, and there is all the jargon to learn. The real reason we have em is emergencies.

We don't have the infrastructure to automate transportation flights. It's doable, but we'd need to install shit at airports to allow data-comms traffic emulation so ATC could control and route the incoming flights. Plus ANY crash by a robo-flight has the same problem as the self-driving car thing - it freaks people out WAY more than DEI hires killing all their passengers. That and it's a cyber security risk - it makes the planes hackable and steerable by a third party like all the UAVs are.

Trump’s brother was a pilot and their Dad had zero respect for it, made fun of him, called him an airbus driver. Partly why he drank to death.
