When I get less than 8 hours of sleep for more than a couple days I am utterly miserable and ready to kms. I'd rather live in extreme poverty than sleep-deprived.

How THE FUCK do normies do it? Every single wagie I know gets 5-6 hours max and they continue like that for months, until they get a short vacation break.
I can not comprehend why they choose to do this, the suffering of waging outweighs the pleasure of money so greatly.

Then when I was briefly a STEM guy, it was basically the same (I did EE) for a few courses

I can work a 12 hours shift without a night of sleep but don't expect me to do any social shit. Rarely happens and adrenaline keeps you going with some schizo moments such as hearing noises and see things that aren't there after the 36 hours mark.
I usually average 6-7 hours on most days, sometimes 4-5 and very rarely less than 3.

I work 6 am to 7pm (and flip the opposite each week). I only get 5-6 hours brcause I'm a 45 minute drive from work and it takes me 20 minutes when I'm on site to grt to the office because the place is huge but I NEED to have my sit down half hour shower with a tall boy filled with wine in the morning

Ten years of non stop wageying wagey here. I am constantly on a state of bitter tiredness. The only time I feel half normal is on the weekend. I’ll usually pass out around 11pm-12 on Friday and sleep straight through until 11am the next day. I do this both days. If I ever lost my job I think I’d probably spend the first month sleeping. My lack of sleep has resulted in all kinds of horrible chronic conditions. My test is lower than it should be (test and sleep are highly correlated). You're not investing in self-upkeep that's why. You have to invest time and money into improving your environment to make your daily tasks faster and more efficient. That buys you valuable time to relax.
Before you go to bed, sit at the edge and close your eyes and focus on controlling your breathing for for like 10 minutes. You'll get meditation before bed which will help you gain more from the sleep.
If you work a job that requires you to stand all day, buy some shoe inserts. If you cook a lot of food, make sure you have it all stored easy to get to. If you're sitting all day at work, buy a wristguard for a keyboard/mouse or wherever to ease your bloodflow - similarly bring a couple small hand towels in a bag to lay on the arm rests of your work chair to soften the pressure on your arms.
Organize your environment to make it fast and easy to access. Plan what days you go to the gym and if you miss them, do just a little extra walking at home in your backyard, neighborhood or in your own apt.
Life throws curveballs all the time and you have to adapt and get "close enough" sometimes. That's how you prevent yourself from suffering wage life. You gain self control and suddenly it's no longer a big deal. You gain freedom even inside the cage around you.
This makes your work day drain you less, which leaves more energy to efficiently and quickly do your home tasks, which leaves more energy to wind down and decompress. It's a positive feedback loop which makes your subsequent work days easier and less hassle, even on bad days.
This is how you escape. Invest in upkeeping your health and your environment and it will invest itself back into YOU. You can do it, anon, I believe in you.

Creatine helps me significantly when I've had poor sleep without the downsides of stimulants. I take ~5g every morning in a glass of water, but I'll double it on days I'm short on sleep. I've been reading that it has neuroprotective properties on top of already promoting cellular energy production, and supposedly you can go up to 25g without overtaxing your kidneys, but I keep it conservative. If it's a particularly bad day I might go for a second dose in the afternoon if I start dragging again. Do your research and read more on fitness & biohacking forums. Still prioritize sleep though. You may also want to get a blood panel done to look at your hormone levels, vitamin D, nutrient deficiencies, etc.
