The cops are questioning you, you're on the hook for being called as a witness, you could be forced to testify, you don't know who the perpetrator is you're fucking with or who their family is, cops might follow you around for a few months to see if this was 'targeted,' hit you with leading bullshit like 'are you sure you didn't know either of these people?' Then you're at risk of that shit showing up on a background check, or just some legal check as an 'administrative error' as that happens to people all the time, the second their name is in a police report even as the person who filed it that can potentially pop up later. I've had friends who called in crimes happening to their neighbors (robberies, break ins, that type of shit) who then have their phone number in police databases as the person who lives in that house/apartment. Bystanders who intervene legally suffer even if they don't get arrested, and nobody has time for that shit nowadays with just trying to get by. Then all of their freetime is spent dealing with that shit, and nobody has much freetime anymore. Unlike a lot of anons here I couldn't just do nothing if I thought somebody was about to die, and I don't have a freeze response at all that I could use to justify doing nothing to myself (to cops I could justify it, because they always think freeze response), but if I see a fucking schizo or non-serious injury not right in front of me I'm ignoring it too much legal shit.
