Is it me or is Europe more detailed? Like everywhere else its just big fat plains or big fat deserts or mountains or whatever. Like the creator took extra effort into crafting europe, made significantly less effort into crafting the African continent.

I've always thought this. Everywhere else is longer, smoother coastlines. Europe is much more messy.
It's exactly how you would draw things if you started with the main area, and everywhere else was just filler.

A lot of what we think are basic principles are wrong. Our world doesn't exist in a flat plane (either ins sphere or not). It's warped, so when we people try to calculate maps they get it all wrong.
Why does a 1 hour journey sometimes feel short than a different 1 hour journey? Because it is.
