Even before DOGE, Musk single handedly kick-started IT layoffs and the collapse of IT as reliable employment path. He was the first to fire 85% IIRC of twitter personnel. And the others saw that you didn't need the gigantic teams of coders after all, and started to fire everyone. The crash is still ongoing. After several years, the junior coders have already accepted that they have no certainty in their employment. This all started before AI came into play even.
