We need socialism and socialism needs us. It is a proven fact, and I have the documents to prove it, that large scale investment and industrial policy like the construction of export terminals and housing units can and does boost the output and standard of living of a NATION. This isn’t opinion, this is factual. These are projects where the gains are too widely distributed for the private sector to embark on or there’s too much regulatory hurdle.

For example, I’ve seen facts from the Ministry of Infrastructure in Canada that shows the gross return on two export terminals. The net contribution to GDP growth was 12-14% per annum.

So let me paint a pretty picture for you. The Canadian government can borrow at 2.5%, and make an investment into something that generates 12-14% returns… how is socialism not common fucking sense??

State capitalism isn't Socialism. Also they can borrow from the Bank of Canada and pay themselves the interest but won't because that won't cause inflation.

Borrowing from the bank of Canada is exactly what will cause inflation. Borrowing from the bank of Canada is money printing, that’s what will expand the money supply.

Borrowing via issuing bonds doesn’t create money because it siphons just as much out of the capital markets as you
spend

having strong opinions on any political ideology is usually a sign of low intelligence

Also state capitalism is by definition socialism. It’s collective ownership over the means of production. Export terminals, housing, and infrastructure is means of production since they all produce economic value.

Complete other way around. Only stupid people don’t become interested in politics and political ideology. You should care about the levers of power

In Marxist theory, socialism entails collective ownership of the means of production by the working class, leading to the abolition of capitalist exploitation. Under socialism, workers democratically control production and distribution. By contrast, in state capitalism, the state owns or directs major industries and accumulates capital, but workers remain wage laborers under hierarchical management. Thus, relations of production remain capitalist even though ownership is formalized through the state.

Milton Friedman said that any form of ownership over the means of collection is socialism.

And since ownership can be defined as the rights to the proceeds of or legal control over, any taxation or regulation is socialism.

In fact Mises, adhering to this definition, called Milton Friedman a socialist

why don't you quote Ronald Reagan's views on socialism as well. kek
You're not as "intelligent" as you think you are.
