They need very sophisticated machines and chemistry to make them usable for the semiconductor business.But Turkey has this huge complex since WW1 and even before. They want to refine those rar eartsh by themselves, to also produce stuff.But honestly, as a turk, I dont see it. Turkey lacks the technology and ressources to do so. Its just a pipedream. It is still a country, easily e century behind the US.

Its is also a huge strategic asset, but at the same time a huge target on your back.You can keep them, but if you dont have Chinas capabilities to refine and actually defend them, its only a matter of time until someone else will come and take them by force. And we all know the US is ready to do so, since they cant take them away from China or Russia.Turkey also asked China and Russia to give/sell them this technology, but both of them refused.
