Spoons do not get enough liquid into our mouths fast enough. The implement you are looking for is a straw.Also, not all dishes are meant to be eaten with silverware. If you can grasp it without getting something sticky or greasy on your hands, it makes since to eat with your hands. Things like sandwiches and pizza have your hand only making contract with dry bread, so it's expected that they be consumed manually. Similarly with beverages, your hand only makes contract with the cup, which is not consumed and doesn't leave you needing to immediately wash your hands without feeling gross.
