id imagine goldberg had a stake in both sides, although the sabatoge of reconstruction and the shooting of lincoln seem very jewey, or at the least they were involved in a larger conservative conspiracy

Jews weren’t on a united front during the civil war. Some staunchly supported the Confederacy, others were staunch Unionists, others were neutral.

Their opinions of the war actually lined up pretty well with the American population as a whole at the time. You see, the massive wave of Jewish immigration to the US didn’t happen until the Gilded Age and lasted until the 1950s, so the “Old Stock” Jews of America were actually very well assimilated and accepted in society. Famously, although the 2nd Klan was antisemitic, there were many Hewish Klansmen in the 1st iteration of the Klan. Mainly confederate veterans.
